Never a good idea to air dirty laundry in public.

No Facebook for me. Or Twitter or anything else for that matter.

A combination of not wanting to put stuff "out there" and the knowledge that I'm too damn lazy to keep it up anyhow.

It isn't all that bad - I've reconnected with a lot of good quality friends, from both my childhood and adult life back in Blighty.

Okay I'll stop.

I'd like to offer...

You're not my real Mum.

For the love of God there's only one, "o" in, "losing" - why is that so difficult to learn?

Please stop posting about missing children from the entire globe. It's not helpful at all and actually makes it seem like you're boasting about how you're hiding them in your basement.

I agree with you Jim, I post daily as do many of us on BE, but there are limitations I never discuss certain topics, mainly really private stuff I like to keep it light hearted as much as possible!

Not really. Here you can tell people how you really feel.

I'd like to ask those people who post "I love you more than the universe is wide..." posts to their babies what on earth they think Facebook is.

And those people that repost the "please protect my privacy" panic chain statuses need to be reminded that they are a) wrong for the 178th time, and b) that FB is a social networking site.

"I bet most of my friends won't repost this" can also have a "yes, there's a very good reason for that you brainless muppet. See how carefree and often people repost things that are good? This isn't one of those things."

Or let them know that more than infinity is, in fact, infinity - so they actually love their baby as much as the universe is wide, as that tends to infinity. Furthermore, perhaps they should be telling that to their baby instead of the 150 people who did see it that don't give a f*** ...

It's the whole 'look at my great (staged) life, it's so much greater than yours'.

My son isn't on FB (won't let him) and my daughter is three. I don't communicate with them via a medium that they can't access so I bet all those people think I'm the worst parent ever

Why just the width of it as well? Do they not love the baby to the full cubic capacity?

Times have changed so much. When I was a kid, I got a simple 'happy birthday' from my parents. Not a message to the world about how I was the most wonderful, beautiful, talented, amazing etc etc child ever with a million exclamation marks and x's.
