nice and breezy, humidity only around 28% ... a great summer so far - only another 3 months of it to go

Whew! Good thing I'm inside y'all. It's 109F/43C (heat index) outside. I'm cool as an ice pop. Dang! I'd pass out most definitely if I went outside.

An hour ago it was 88 with a heat index of 99-67% humidity-this is silly.

Yeah, isn't it. At least you have it good where you are. This is probably going to be a short heat wave at best. Nothing like what we had here in KC about 2 years back. We had about 1-2 weeks of high nineties weather and a month of no rain.

Well in my mind, when it gets dark it should be cool automatically and this is NOT happening!

Last night I went out and watered my poor ICU roses and 1/2 hour later we have a good old thunderstorm with a very good rainfall. Sigh.

What kinds of roses do you have planted? When I lived at home it was always a battle to keep them watered and to make sure we never wet the plants themselves. Yet we still had bug issues. They were of the Knock Out variety so they should be quite hardy.

I have a few Knockouts around my mailbox, but all of the rest are Hybrid Teas, Floribundas, and a few OGRs (Old Garden Roses). They can be fussy and yes the trick is not to water the foliage as much as the soil medium-here blackspot is the enemy and it is not a pretty sight. It's a balancing act-they need 6 hours of sun a day, but.............this weather now.......survival of the fittest.
