"Curly" Neal, of The Harlem Globetrotters fame, 77. Always loved watching HGT growing up. Huh, should pull up some old Globetrotter games online during this isolation time.

He outlived Meadowlark.

They still tour - not the original ones of course.

They were due in my city soon, but off now.

Who doesn't? .... I can't help but wonder how he felt about his most famous song being someone else's signature song, other than being happy to receive the royalties.

Much the same as any other song writer I'd have thought. Prince had to suck up the fact that a huge amount of people didn't know Nothing Compares to U was his.

Edit: In my one example I said 'a huge amount of people'. Not 'everyone'.

It suited her better anyway, but take Mad World the more recent version by Gary J is better than the original imho and the same with Limp Bizkit's cover of Annie are you ok.

I'm not one but I imagine being a song writer means you want your music to reach as big an audience as possible and more often than not (not all the time before I get snotty comments) they expect other artists to cover their songs. Agree with all your examples.
