Honey is super-intelligent and calm (mostly), she's mostly Podengo Pequeno, a solid hunting dog. She was so badly treated before she chose us that she circled our house for a month and would not approach. She didn't know she was a dog and had no confidence at all. Even now, any sign of a broom and she's gone, she doesn't know how to play with a ball and when I throw a stick for Lucy (the other one) to chase, she just stands, with the expression pictured, looking from me to Lucy and back. After three years, she has just about decided that we're family..... and although she loves SWMBO, she's mine!

Lucy was chasing the car that abandoned her when SWMBO gave chase. We lost the car, but gained Lucy. Her appearance marked a step-change in Honey's life and they are now inseperable. Lucy is also part Podengo and is the hunter of the pair - totally fearless (or stupid, as I normally call it!) - and a glutton, but as sweet as she looks.

They are my nurses and take me for my 7km walks each day - so boy do I miss them when I'm in the UK......

Thanks on their behalf (although Lucy already knows.......) Yes Steve, she is gorgeous, but I have to stay loyal to my first girl (and those eyes)

Given our lifestyle, we didn't intend to get one dog, let alone two - but I don't regret our decision (or in Honey's case, her decision!)

Our programming officer's dog Bogar. He's in the music business, and a favourite of many of the bands that come through. A lot of the acts that are playing return engagements will ask where he is.

He'd have to get past Honey first................she is V E R Y protective! (... but in a quiet way)

I don't know how animal politics work, but we visit a couple who have their own dogs and also foster others from out local canil.
Before Christmas, we went for a meal and one of the "foster" dogs was very interested in Lucy .
We went to eat, leaving the dogs on the patio, just outside the window. They seemed quiet.
After the meal we went out to find the Mr foster sitting in a corner, with Lucy on the other side of the patio and Honey lying down between them - facing Mr foster.
Mr foster wasn't going anywhere.......:sneaky:

Yes, those eyes kinda say "what ya gonna do about it" in a non-threatening way..... like he's already sussed he has pre-clearance!
"Show him who's boss", they said, so I did and he rolled over to show his pink belly - then went back to doing the same thing........

If you want to keep any socks, best put them under lock and key now.

Ah he looks very cute Nutek and I'm sure he will help fill that hole .

I am a long way from there yet. It was all I could do to watch the Golden Retrievers on Crufts this last week.Altho I have contacted the breeder at the kennels Senga came from They expect their main breeding bitch to have puppies again next November . So could be, we will have a new member of the family then. We will see how we feel at the end of the summer

Yeah, it's tough. We had always had more than one-at-a-time, so had never had a completely empty house until now (25ish years) and it was just TOO empty. Still think about Emmy every day really, but Stan makes me smile and laugh and already start thinking about new things so he is good for me. :)

You will know when it is the right time / pup for you.
