Default Pranks on the new or naive worker

I was just reminded of a trick portrayed in a TV show on the new kid in the office. He was sent to the typing room - it was older times - to use the photocopy machine and get 50 copies (or whatever number) of a sheet of paper handed to him. But he notices that it's blank.

It's explained that they are passing reports around but the last printed page can get a bit grubby, so the blank page needs to be copied and used for the bottom page of the reports.

I remembered this old classic post

Being a computer bod and a mathematician he was fascinated to see how people dealt with things costing amounts like ten and sixpence three farthings in day-to-day transactions.

I don't remember what year it was but it was this century so he was able to call me from the Gatwick train, on which he had tried to buy a beer in shillings, to explain that he knew I knew about decimalisation. People think Americans can't take a joke and don't know how to swear, they're wrong.
Anyone have any good tales?

Getting one of our Hearings Officers presenting a case of a female sex worker working without authorization to the Immigration Division member who doesn't believe she was working to say

Madame/Mr Member if we use the common sense approach in looking at the evidence provided in the disclosure, the Minister believes by the evidence presented in the LeoList website advertisement which states young exciting 22 year old Asian girl open to almost anything and willing to please. The online ad with a picture of an almost naked girl and the text messages between her and the undercover officer indicating a half hour for $120 or full hour for $200 is not negotiating the sale/purchase of a box of Girl Guide cookies.

Back in the late 90's/early 00's at the airline we would send new people to another airline to ask for the aircraft keys, several airlines all participated at the time, or a bin stretcher so we could stretch the aircraft bins to have more room. Neither of which existed and the other airline would send them down to another and on it went, usually took the new person about an hour to figure it out but some were smart enough to realize it was a prank from the get go.

Such activities were frowned upon in my Canadian workplaces though, and may very well be frowned upon in the US too now.

Working in a nightclub in the 90's. We used to tell the new starts the smoke machine was broken and send them round to one of the other clubs the company owned with a handful of binbags so they could collect enough smoke for the night..... obviously the staff in the other clubs knew what was what and were happy to oblige by turning the smoke machine on and telling our guys to run round with an open bin bag to try and trap the smoke inside.

Hours of fun.

Still trying to get my head around that one. Did it work because they were unfamiliar with the word or was it just doing what they were told without thinking?
