Just in case you're not aware, things are looking a little rocky for Monarch Airlines. Let's hope they pull through

Monarch saved from brink after CAA grants deadline extension to prove it is financially stable | The Independent

The sad part is that earlier in the month their CEO hit back at Ryanair's lippy owner for saying that it was an open secret that both Monarch & Norwegian wouldn't be around for long..... If that happens, we're really going to see the end of open skies before 2019.

Yes GeniB, though in fairness Laker tried to bust the-then US stranglehold on the Atlantic, and was stupidly under-resourced anyhow.
This is more a case of leaving the field open to a particular Irish gentleman .... with unusual ideas of customer care.
You see, I have a strange feeling..... that the other major, easyjet, may sell-up soon too; - they're expanding into other fields, and it would never surprise me if they decided to sell to the Harp as well.
How are you hanging onto luggage straps for a super-economy service?

Anything can happen of course in the low-cost airline business, but it's interesting to note that EasyJet have very ambitious plans for the next decade. Notably, to introduce a fleet of electric aircraft! They plan to team up with Wright Electric (a US start-up) to build an all electric airliner.
