oh, this one was always so effin grumpy and was obviously spoken to recently about it, because now she smiles even while telling the story of the old man who died in a house fire

Ah, I remember now, I read about him in one of Stuart Maconie's books. He turned down Morrissey I think I read.

The local news is shit...it consists of some bored, cold looking reporter being live to cover some event that has long been over and cleared up, such as a road accident that happened 10 hours earlier.

The news consists of usually someone being run over, shot or robbed, usually either in Dorchester, Rochester, Roxbury, Lawrence, Worcester or if we're really lucky some other random down. Some times it might even be a case of arson, they usually don't go into that being some dodgy Irish gang thing though.

Still, as crap as it is, it's far more exciting than the local news for when we were up in Maine, which consisted of the blueberry pie winning entry, or someone missing their cat. No, really, the big news was that lame.

I think the difference is that back in the UK instead of TV it just goes in the local paper that always has pictures of people holding massive checks on it. I remember when I lived in Swansea that the front page story on that once was that an old Granny found a pencil in her garden.

That was it.

Mind you when I went back home the national BBC News had gone the Hire-A-Whore route of cable news as well. And they endlessly banged on about Facebook and Blackberry phones.

Jennie Stencel, former traffic girl on WXII-TV, an NBC affiliate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Jennie Stencel FTW.

Not having TV, I have no clue about the ones here.

Lots more out on YouTube

Our local newsreader is Gasia Mikaelian, she talks incredibly fast, especially when she says her own name as it seems to change every time.

Apparantly she has a following on facebook of people who can't help repeat her name after she has said it, I must admit I also do this however haven't joined the facebook group.

At least she can speak though unlike the weatherman who seems intoxicated every night and rambles on with lots of 'ers' every other word.

Not so much with the local news, but I've
taken a healthy interest in the local weather for some time now.
In fact I even give the barometer on the wall a good tap each time I go past it, to reinforce to the misses my serious weather-related interest.......

Attached: Our local weather girls during a tv interview. Whether it be rain, sleet or snow, they always succeed in raising my temperature, or something....

Here they are 'in action'.

Our weather person is a guy who didn't appear to have a job but just went fishing a lot. He then got asked to do a 'fishing report' spot about the best places to find particular fishes each day. Now he does all the weather, surf and fishing reports. He's call 'Burty'. He's a tool.
