Someone nearby has a Bengal cat. We sometimes see it wandering around alone. Why anyone would allow such a beautiful creature to do that I have no idea. We have many coyotes wandering around here. They are often seen during the day and are quite big compared to the ones I used to see in NJ.

Bengals are gorgeous. But I wouldn't have even the most common moggy wandering around outside in coyote country.

The coyotes are used to humans and are not frightened. Here there have been many reports of coyotes trying to take dogs whilst they are on leash. One actually managed to run off with a chihuahua whilst it was on leash with its owner...this was in broad daylight. We have quite a lot of black foxes too.

All this talk of Bengal cats, I had it in my head that they were regulated/restricted in certain places, so I asked Wikipedia. Sure enough, in certain US cities they are, and were regulated in the UK until 2007.
Then I looked at temperament, and found this:
A breed apart

"Smart, energetic, and playful" = "will take your arm off if you cross them".
