Default Dreams

Last night I was traipsing around different buildings trying to find a bank machine or bank that would recognise my bank card but I couldn't find one, even though I knew there was one as I'd used it before.

So now I was unable to pay for a room and was faced with having to leave the building at closing time.

Also leaving the building at closing time would be what one might call packs of wild dogs except that they were currently all sitting in the areas on the ground floors quite passively. But at letting out time they would be wild and tearing to pieces anyone they came across.

It became clear that day by day, people's money would run out and they could no longer afford their rooms and they would be kicked out and also be at risk from the attack dogs.

I was still searching for a bank to recognise my card as it got closer and closer to kicking out time.

Not that this is at all related to the virus, oh no.

I was wondering what was going on until I got to the wild dogs part. Don't scare me like that, I thought you were stuck somewhere and in big trouble!

It sounds like it should be a word but rather than being in the act of having a nightmare it actually sounds like it could be dishing them out.

We have an 'off topic' thread for flights of fancy by budding novelists, don't we?

Not to mention the reports of people having dreams about it all.

This budding novelist is already published
I come to this thread to find out useful info about the virus; perhaps the occasional joke or light-hearted comment. I started reading your post, and wondered, where is he - what is this building where he has to pay for a room by the day - sounds like a brothel ... and where are these packs of wolves? OK, so I guess you are writing a metaphorical story relating to people unable to pay rent and being forced out of their homes onto the streets, due to the virus?

If that's how you like to unwind and 'entertain' us, I guess that's your prerogative, but it seems inappropriate to me.

One of many Coronavirus news stories has been about the dreams people have been having. It was a dream I had which seemed quite obvious. So perfectly in keeping with the topic of the thread isn't it?

Just to reiterate... desperate search (that would be the research looking for answers including for vaccine) and increasing hardship (people going without money through not working or lost business) while increasing numbers of people perish day by day (which should need no explanation)

Maybe I read it too early; still getting caffeinated as we speak ... I wake slow. A simple introductory line that said 'I had a dream ...' might have helped. Yes, I know, artistic license and all that ...

Fair enough. Maybe another Burrito

But you know how it is about dreams - people generally say they find the dreams of others dull. I don't but I've heard that said many a time.

I didn't want to create a dream thread for that reason. I've done it before, here, and they died.

For the same reason I deliberately didn't start with having a dream as that would have meant people switching off straight away.

So watch this newly created thread die now.

I'd actually be interested in a dream thread, I find them fascinating, if often a little weird and unsettling.
