Seems to be sleeping by herself, while the parents are out clubbing or something.

Yes. First night of home alone and she was a little bit jumpy but otherwise was fine. Obviously as she is growing so fast more food down the cakehole is required.
Both parents will be away feeding . They will only return to feed the chick now and over time will keep less and less company. She will become ore confident and start to explore a little as she grows. Meanwhile she will attend to her nest.
There are 22 other chicks in various stages of becoming post guard also.

A bit of vid that someone did of chick becoming 'post guard'.
Both parents were in yesterday for a while. Mum fed the chick a little before she left.

11:25am NZ time 8th March here in New Zealand.

If I had any squid I'd be thawing it out right now!

There is a set of Dunedin harbour cams. One looks out over a part of the colony . There is a nest there and this chick is also post guard. It is a little older than the live cam chick. This nest is to the left of the live cam chick.
It isn't a live cam but refreshes every couple of minutes I think. It's quite good to check on for when the juveniles start to really gather and party.

Then Mum also appears
14:29pm NZ time.
An incredible amount of vocalisation which is normal at this stage. Chick joining in too trying out some baba sky calls around 14:47.
Tomorrow morning will be a weight check . Often around 9/10am

Tuesday 10:53am. The rangers give the webcam chick its weekly weigh-in and check.
What is really great is that at 11:00am the cam actually pans round to show several juvenile and unmated adults in action having a get together. The ability for the webcam to do this is new. Some really great flying.

Screenshot.

That's brilliant. I thought that the parent was pretty tolerant during the weigh-in; the subsequent zoom out and panning to see the attendant gang really gave another idea as to what's going on out there, great to see them in flight like that.

Bit of video of yesterday's action. Both the weigh-in and the youngsters.
Not my vid but generally shared.

Some interesting footage at 12:15 - 12:30 today. Hopefully the webcam shows NZ time so easy for anyone to wind back to look.

None of the three albatross are the parents. I think two are properly banded ( 3 colours). The other is younger as only banded as 'red' . One of the adults (POB) shows interest in the chick but is gentle. Not all unpaired adults, other parents or juveniles are gentle. Some will tug and prod. Chick will oscillate between being submissive , keeping the head away, and having a little go herself with maybe a tug at adult tail feathers. It will depend on how feisty she is. Her mother is quite feisty. Her father is laid back.

Sometimes I don't watch if I am about other stuff to do . I just leave the sounds on in the background so if something happens like a sky call or a wheeling I can easily switch to watching. In any case I like the sounds from the headland.

Apparently bottle nose dolphins were seen in the harbour today. There are often orca around too.

If you watch regularly you will sometimes see a small boat coming and going. There are the tugs and the fishing boats but the one I mean is The Monarch. You can read the history and the trips via the website. We've taken their trips a few times now and it is well worth it. You get to see the colony and headland from the sea. We've seen orca up close and so many sea birds including mollyhawks and albatross. It's the only type of cruising I'd be interested in other than The Enderby or similar. MrBEVS is a good soul with this as he gets seasick badly so pills are his only way to go to share this with me. Hence why I haven't done an Enderby trip . That and the $$ of course.

Goodness - I have to get back down to Dunedin and Taiaroa again. I've considered moving there.
