Changeover . Mum returns to the nest after just a couple of days at sea. Dad a little bit reluctant so she gave him a bit of a shove. 2.15pm.

Will she be regurgitating goodies for the kid then?

I keep missing all the exciting bits. I've seen a lot of a big bird sitting on a nest :p

Yup. Over the course of several days until her mate returns to take over all duties. Tasty regurgitated squid mush and bits for the most part. It;s a 24/7 job at the mo.
As you may have noted the chick is already starting to sit out a little bit as it & parents progress to the post guard stage.

The Valentine's Day changeover. Not my vid or screenshot. Someone else thinking to keep a 'highlight'.

Dad was reluctant to leave the nest so Mum had to give him a bit of a shove. See the chick is already 'sitting out' a bit.

Changeovers depend on where the feeding grounds are, when the absent bird feels it has enough and , of course, the wind. Albies need wind.

11:55 am NZ time 16th.

Chick is on view and you can here it cleaning itself. It is foggy there and one can here a cruise ship hootering. I'm not a fan of these things in that harbour at all. Too much wildlife and ecology.
Don't forget that one can rewind back over 12 hours.

Some footage of the weight check today. Chick is growing fast now. It will soon be at the post guard stage.
I am hoping for a male.

If there is actually no interest in this I will cease the naughty thread bump updates as in general bumping own threads just to talk with oneself or revive a topic is a bit of a no-no.

No, don't stop. It's my only chance to catch the interesting bits.

What Lion said! Every time I look at the webcam there's nothing much happening, so if you're ok to keep posting updates please do xx

Gawd those rangers are brave, I reckon Mum/Dad could do some damage with that beak if they wanted to.

S/he seems very unafraid though. I don't know if that's because s/he recognizes the rangers, or has no reason to be afraid because s/he could take their arm off if desired.
