I was watching that earlier, scrolled back to see the feeding and some big goof with a blue band landed and tried to stick his ear in. Boy, did he get a blast! Clacketyclacketyclackety clack clack driven away like with a hammer-drill and he took off.

 Yeah. Some get an earful and some get a welcome. Dad is more laid back than Mum with this.

Long day and no squid, we're waiting. When I scrolled back earlier I noticed she was off the nest and watched her making repairs for a bit. I'm hoping to catch a feeding in real time; I like the way she perks up when she hears them coming and starts squawking and looking up.

It's so long between feedings I feel sorry for her, but unless someone is stopping the camera and putting in smaller nests every night, she is growing like a weed. I've seen her doing nest repair a couple of times now

BEVS said a bit up-thread that Pippa might go for a play nest, maybe she's a closet real-estate kind of chick?

I keep reminding myself what she's training for. She's going to be as big across as a canoe and fly 70 miles per hour, able to spend years on the open ocean. That's not your average bird.

She's certainly flapping her wings and stretching them out now.

She's sitting up and squawking right now, with luck I may get to see a real-time feeding!
Edit: I suppose because there were some adults wheeling around and possibly going to the other nests she may have just gotten hopeful...

She whees when a parent comes in , begging for food.

Right now an adult is in but I cannot tell which parent. 2.10pm NZ time

edit...
After all these long weeks it was Dad , however he is injured. One can only hope he stays on the ground long enough or late enough into the evening when the wind drops so he can be captured and taken to the wildlife hospital. If not, one has to hope his leg is sprained and will heal slowly.
The big thing here is that he made it back to the colony, he was chatty and he fed his chick what he could despite the injury.

Here is some vid posted up by a follower. Obviously this lady follows other bird cams too.
Anyway she does good work when it comes to vid capture.
This is of this afternoon. So relieved to see OGK as I thought him gone for good (dead) however against all odds, it seems ,he has come in and from this I have good hopes he is on a road to recovery.
Check the cam footage around 13.57 and slow it down if poss. You can see him come in holding his feet oddly for landing.

I've been putting this on the TV in my home office, which has been delightful. Thank you for sharing!

Anything that spreads the awareness of this special place. It is the only albatross colony on a mainland in the entire world. So worth a visit and more. It is astonishing. you get to experience something unique.

Thanks though should go to the lady that posts the vids on you tube , also to NZ DoC and RAC.

I hope OGK is able to recover. :(The scroll back feature doesn't always work for me.
