Am I Twat?

Before just going ahead and answering consider this -:

I am seriously considering buying some cowboy boots. Now, I don't buy anything. I don't do video games. I don't own a fancy phone. I don't drink alcohol so don't spend money there. My clothes are not that important. Don't care about cars, tools, big TVs, trinkets or anything. But yet I still really want to buy some cowboy boots. Therefore my conscience is telling me that is the behavior of a twat.

Now, go ahead and rip me a new one.

If you have little feet then you can have mine....

it was the biggest fashion faux pas I've ever made. I bought them about 5 years ago and they were worn just once...bloody uncomfortable in my opinion and I felt and probably looked stupid wearing them in the New Jersey suburbs (as did many other women who were also wearing theirs).

I spotted them in the back of my wardrobe a few days ago...I don't do eBay but I'll probably give them to the Vietnam Vets who are always collecting stuff around our neighbourhood.

And yes...you will look like a twat in them unless you are a real cowboy or live in Texas....

Yes. All of those.

Just don't tuck your jeans into them and you'll be fine.

I've heard they are really comfortable, though I usually just stick to trainers myself. I'm dead classy, me.

I had a really nice pair of snake skin boots that I bought in Tennessee. Most uncomfortable things I have ever worn. Choosing a pair of boots that will truly be comfortable seems to be not all that easy, or at least it wasn't for me. I never did wear them much because I felt a bit stupid being the only guy in town doing so.

Ya gotta ask yourself the following......Are you a cowboy? Your answer to that question will give you the answer to whether or not to buy cowboy boots.

And do you live in New York State.

Re: Am I Twat?

Some very good points.

Let's review some facts.

1) I am not a cowboy.
2) I do live in New York state. While possibly the gayest state in the Union, I do live in one of the least gay parts of it.
3) I simply can't see how I - even as an English stay-at-home Dad who drives a minivan - can look any sillier than the thousands of American men who insist on wearing Mom-jeans and white trainers all the time. Everyone looks like Jerry Seinfeld stuck in 1983. Which is why I only wear shoes.
4) Once years ago I posted a photograph on this humble website of a what might have been a human bone that I found in my back yard. In the picture you could see my foot. it took a mere minute before someone accused me of wearing orthopedic shoes - or as one PM stated at the time, "even your feet are spackers."
5) I did start a thread about wanting to eat horses. This would seem somewhat anathema to cowboyness.

Uh oh - this is beginning to make me look quite silly now.

I got a pair of Cuban heel cowboy boots back in the 80s for bootscooting classes (it was all the rage then in Melbourne). They were very comfortable, gave you extra height and I often wore them at other times...

...but as SultanOfSwing said - don't tuck your jeans in them and you'll be fine :)

Next it will the hat and then the pick up truck with a gun rack. It's a downward spiral to Brokeback Mountain.

Listen to these people Herpes. Heed their advice.

Do your neighbours wear cowboy boots? (I mean the living ones before you scream with delight and go digging for a free pair)

Mike wears these, he thinks they are really comfortable.

You need a pair of cowboy boots. But not just any old pair. You need Mexican pointy Cowboy boots.

Your're gay if you don't.

Are you going where the sun keeps shining through the pouring rain?

Or possibly where the weather suits your clothes?
