So they are installing permanent, buried water lines in every field, since potatoes need irrigation every day. How can that possibly be cost effective? I tried to dig a new bed in my allotment but I had to give up. My allotment neighbor is using a pickax to try to get into the ground, but unfortunately with my lower back problems, I don’t want to risk it.

Thunder storms forecast for Thursday! I’ll believe it when I see it ..
Only 10 miles from the coast..... any weather blowing in lifts over us and drops further inland.......
In some places near here the soil is just sand...... it's good for onions, potatos, beet and turf - IF there is enough rain.... and in recent years that is getting less and less likely.

For overnight last night and apparently again tonight, there's a "frost warning" with temperatures at or near zero.

We've been getting night-time temperatures below zero quite regularly up to last week with no frost warnings.

I never knew much about Suffolk until recently, but my sister, who lives in Sussex, likes to holiday in Dunwich so when she goes there, I often nip down for a night or two, since there’s a good bus service from Norwich to Southwold, from which I can walk to Dunwich. I love that sandy heath, Dunwich, Westleton, Minsmere etc. Gorgeous walking and cycling country.

Sorry, the smiley was just a sort of in the same boat sort of smile, and no offence intended. Studying at the moment is hard so I can only imagine what it's like for teachers.

A dull and cold drizzly day .
At least it started with a bang in the shape of a long nasty rumbling earthquake. Bah!

This has been our weather for the last couple of days. Lovely for casseroles and doonas. The first photo in the story was taken about 5 minutes from my house.

I did laugh at the 'whack-a-mole' comment from our electricity provider.

On 9th May we woke up to snow on the ground, today, just 16 days later, we were looking at a new AC unit. Spring in central PA can be very brief!

No damage to your home I hope! There's always something going on that we could do without
