Oddly McDonald's has better mini donuts than Tim Horton's, a burger joint with better donuts then a coffee and donut joint, what a crazy time to be living.

Oddly I've always thought TH donuts were better than Dunkin Donuts.

The best ones I've had anywhere over here are from Superstore but they hardly ever do them with just a red jam filling. They do have all sorts of sickly iced ones (maple, chocolate) and yucky lemon stuff or Boston Creams smothered in chocolate and cream (what is the point of that?) and it's not even proper cream.

I don't really mind if it's raspberry, strawberry or even blueberry jam. Just a donut with a bit of red filling and a sprinkling of sugar. That's all a donut is supposed to be. Perfection.

Occasionally they'll have a box of the Polish ones - Paczki - but they're not quite as fresh as the usual ones. But at least they have them.

Honestly, there are enough fancy (sickly) cakes around, why do they have to ruin a simple donut with sickly cream, chocolate and other stuff? :frown:

I always preferred TH donuts over DD's and DD's over Krispy Kreme.

Good coffee in both TH and DD and too strong in KK for me.

Not a jelly donut type person but love crullers (fried stick version) with a dusting of powdered sugar. Second favorite is the French Cruller.

My wife has just informed me that Chocolate Orange Mini Eggs are a thing. What a way to start the new year. Hopefully they find their way out here of course.

DD, isn't that great...but they are absolutely everywhere around here. Good rewards program though and their hashbrowns are amazing. Shame that they're really limiting the food options in a number of places.

They used to have a much larger selection of donuts than they do now, which is kind of shite.

But their bagels are OK in a pinch if you need a quick lunch.

I can't say, never had a dunkin donut, they didn't expand into San Diego area until after I left. First location seemed to have opened in 2014.

I always liked Winchell's donuts, they had a lot of locations when I was growing up, they don't have has many locations and fairly small chain and I haven't had any for a few years but they had such good donuts back in the day, when I was very young my mom worked at one and would bring donuts home from work, have never found anything comparable in Canada. Donald's in Vancouver isn't too bad, they make a decent donut.

The McDonald ones are like tim bits but better. (donut holes for US folks)

Sugar twist donut is my favorite but Tim's doesn't sell that type, Safeway has them sometimes though.

Regular chocolate oranges have been quite easy to find, at least where I am, in the US for a good few years now. I think the mini egg version is new though.

I have a rule about not changing the queue I'm in.

I love this.

That is too funny. I like the stores who do one line like a theme park with multiple cashiers, everyone is one single line, seems more efficient. I also use self checkout most of the time when offered, and some stores like the local Canadian Tire forces you to use self check out, they took away all of their cashiers, just about 10 self check outs, one line, and a cashier watching over, far quicker as before they might have had 1 maybe 2 cashier lines open, now they have 10 or so, Home Depot has mostly self check out too, 5 or 6 of them, but they still have 1 cash line generally open for a total of 6 check out spaces with the need for only 2 employees, makes it faster.

Now the Shopper's has the stupidest self check out, they have so many items that can't be self checked out but you don't know about this until you use self check out and the machine wont let you continue without a cashier verifying, but the only cashier is the one at the till, so nobody uses the self check out there much from what I can tell.

My wife just had an interview at a grocery store, they use self check out and have fewer cashiers, but the store manager said they now actually employ more people since they do online orders and it takes more people to pick and pack the orders, so while there are less cashiers, they actually have more employees they are just doing a different kind of job.
