Me too. I have seen the trailer and it looks good. It comes out here in NZ this Thursday.

2017 - 2 young soldiers on a mission to cross dangerous territory to save 16,000 lives. The story mainly focuses on the 2 men, other actors make a brief appearance. A good film but IMO doesn’t live up to its recent hype. 5/10

He was something he should not have been. an artist from the Industrial North .I almost met him once.. I went to the same Art School and he once visited.. missed him by an hour.. Would have been great to shake his hand .We now have a stunning museum dedicated to him..

We just saw 1917. It was a well made and emotional story.

I have to add: One of the joys of being retired is being able to pick and choose times to go places! We went to an 11am show on Tuesday morning and there were only 5 other people in the theatre for the movie. Love it!

I used to like going immediately after work - not retired then, obviously. Already in town.

Also liked going to advanced showings on Sunday mornings with the roast dinner in the oven on the timer.

My reaction to it was "so what?", but then, I thought Dunkirk was less than memorable too.

Last night I caught up on a 2017 movie that I somehow missed. The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan... and better than you'd expect from them. Chinese guy who seeks revenge for his daughter's death in an IRA bombing. I remember reading the book it was based on years ago and being impressed by the attention to detail - and the film is similar.

Yes it's entertaining enough.

But why the 'better than you'd expect' comment? Pierce Brosnan was a very good Bond and has been in a few good movies (not Mama-Mia, obviously ) - The Tailor of Panama, The Ghost Writer, maybe The November Man, I think Survivor was entertaining enough.

Apart from The Foreigner I've not seen much of Jackie Chan lately but the earlier ones were good fun, especially the stunt outtakes at the end.
