I think in the absence of Oxlade-Chamberlain today’s England starting 11 is as good as we have.

Sterling can’t finish but I don’t see an alternative in Southgates system. Lallana hasn’t done enough to be picked.

Sterling is great at dribbling I'll give the guy that. But the lack of a killer pass/cross or stinging thunder shot on target as his end product means it all counts for sweet fa.

Lingard isn't in the same league as Alli.
Maybe has a shout to start in a wider position or as a sub though.

I think you're doing little JLingz a disservice there. Lingard has had a decent season whereas all we have heard about Alli is that he is a petulant, diving little wankhobbit. Have a looksee at the Squawka stats site and compare the two. Lingard's overall rating is much better than Alli's and the rest of his numbers are comparable or there abouts to Alli's despite playing nearly 1,000 mins less over the season. If you filter it based it on 90 mins Lingard destroys him in most of the parameters.

I would play Lingard and tell Alli to grow up and work hard if he wants to displace him. Doesn't really matter as England will be also rans.

Alli feeds off Kane and Eriksen. He’s a good finisher and he’s still got time to grow. That’s the story of Alli,Sterling, and Lingard, young and still learning

Dele Alli is the most technically gifted player in the England squad and can produce pieces of brilliance that simply put other players can't. If he's fully fit then he should be playing. Alli has 37 Premier league goals and is only 22. Lingard is 25 and only has 13.

Lingard is a decent footballer and if England play 4-2-3-1 he has a place but for the 5-3-2 he is not good enough to be starting. Unless of course the manager drops Alli in deeper.

Let's just be clear, I really don't like Alli's attitude. However...Lingard has never actually turned up and he's 25, 3 years older. He's not rated as highly as Alli on WhoScored so what does that say? How do they compare over the last 3 seasons? Lingard's not in the same league.

Alli feeds Kane. Quite how we think we have any hopes in a tournament if we don't play the two best players we have is just mental. Lingard is 25. He shouldn't still be learning.

I don't mind Lingard starting but instead of Alli is just mental. Play him one of the wider roles or use him as a sub.

Alli is Tottenham’s third best player behind Kane and Eriksen, which isn’t an insult as those two are world class players

It's a stacked Tottenham squad. Poch kept the faith with Alli perhaps more than he should but the kid can play. Holding his spot over Son, Lamela and Moura shows his quality.

He took some stick last year- from me quite often- but he finished the season playing well.

I don't think there is any rationale to leave him out with form and fitness proven. It's a bonus to England that he and Kane play in the same team regularly as well.

The back half of England concerns me more than the front half.

They're basically identical in stats this year for goals and assists and people are moaning about Alli's quality (me included). So I'd put him above Eriksen but it's irrelevant because the latter isn't English.
Kane is supplied by many people but one of the biggest suppliers of goals for him is Alli. It's a total no brainer to structure an attack around the two biggest threats we have.

There's none whatsoever and the formation to work to play him in behind Kane.
Back half should be fine, they'll have the ball for about 80 minutes against Panama, going Cahill to Walker, Walker to Cahill, Cahill to Jones, Jones to Cahill.

It's the England way.
