The Gruan) wasn't even interested in de Vrij before he went to Lazio.

But van Gaal can always play 3-5-2, I can't see any problems there...

More stuff about my own club now. Looks like the Eto'o deal is pretty much done. I think it could be a good move so long as his wages don't take the piss. I'm a little worried why our players aren't fit enough to last 90 minutes though. Say what you like about Moyes's tactics, he would always have a team that was fit. It's definitely cost us two points on Saturday, and contributed to only drawing with Lesta.
Eto'o is asking for 55k/week, apparently, and Kenwright is agreeable. I guess, even though he's no longer a 'spring chicken', if you can keep him fit and injury-free, there's no doubting his pedigree & experience.

As you say, it's a tad baffling that players are struggling to last 90 minutes in the 2nd week of a new season, though I thought Everton should have had the points in the bag long before Ramsey made things nervous on Saturday, and that's 4 points that have needlessly slipped away already... (mind you, we've just about deserved to get a single point out of 6 so far, so I'm certainly not 'blowing any trumpets'... )

So I just went on the Facebook and saw a "Taxi for Van Gaal" status, my instant thought was that's a bit harsh considering we lost to City last night, United drawing with Sunderland isn't too bad. I didn't know they played tonight, apparently neither did United.

Dwight Gayle got a hat trick on his first outing of the season v Walsall last night. Gawd knows why they aint been playing him. I thnk they will now, and everyone should put money on him to be the first goal scorer v Newcastle on Saturday. He really is better than AJ and will probably keep Palace up on his lonesome.

At least we can concentrate on not getting relegated now.

Funny, a year ago I remember some armchair experts in here saying things weren't that bad and us Reds should calm down. Well, even our worst squad had 6 players who were at the World Cup - MK Dons didn't have anyone. Mickey Mouse cup, sure - but things can't get much worse.

I still think we'll win the league mind.

****, ed, it feels like it must have done for Reds in 1973...we've seen the glory years, winning so many titles that we lost count of them, we've seen the Ferguson era end in retirement like Sir Matt's did, we watched the hapless successor fail miserably (for Moyes read McGuinness & O'Farrell), and now we're all in The Doc's Army Mk. II (aka Big Louie's Boys), and when you turn up to a ground to see United, there's a fair chance the sing-songs and banter OFF the pitch will be more worthy of memory than anything ON it... 'exciting' doesn't begin to describe it.

This is now entering the realms of a parallel 'fantasy' world, where United are a League One side and the likes of MK Dons and Swansea City are Premier League clubs...ooops, I guess one of those might be... you couldn't make it up.

Still, the silver lining is surely the end of the line for the likes of Anderson and Welbeck, simply not good enough to pull on the United shirt, and in the Brazilian's case hasn't been for quite a few years.... we'll never get him sold on to anyone now, since everyone knows he's mard...

There was one particular team that loved having Man Utd play in the same division as them, it was like manna from heaven, so much so that they turned up in very large numbers at every London game they played. Millwall, Bet they're still in that mindset.

Correct me If I'm wrong, but was that the last time Man Utd had to play in an empty stadium ......The crowd ban at Millwall circa 74 ?

Think we may have had a European ban from OT in the late 70s, and played a 'home' match against St. Etienne somewhere down south... but yeah, I think Millwall was the last 'total fan ban'...

yeah sorry about that - you were right and should panic massively

Not sure how it will go for my lot this year as we have only played 2 weak mid table sides so far - Stoke a much bigger test

in fairness your lot were decent but pretty toothless up front - not sure that Riviere (spelling?) is quite up to it. Our other game was much easier!

Morning girls just at the airport half a stone heavier from paella and sangria.

I see no-one has mentioned that Spus are top of the table. As always this forum is dominated by 'newsflash Man U continue to be crap'.

Cainess - is Europa League looking like a desirable prospect yet? Oh and I think I may as well have my twenty quid now.
