There are very few young players at other PL clubs who would be better than the kids we can bring through our own academy; Bellerin at Arsenal looks a decent RB prospect, Zouma at the Chavs seems nailed on for a top class CB, Stones (Everton) would be a good addition to our squad, and I'd approach Koeman for Clyne.

Haven't checked on this for a while, but it's encouraging to see our under 21s at the top of the table. Not sure how relative it is (no idea if the opposition is up to much), but this is where we should be looking for new players.

Here's the under 18. Pete, the future is blue! (Well, that's where we'll be nicking our best players from, anyway):

It's not a trophy, it's an indication of the strength of our youth system. Sorry if the post was a little complicated for you to follow.

Palace eyeing off 10th spot, which should give Pardew the Manager of the year. Not many teams get that two years in succession.

Thanks Newcastle

This needs to be seriously considered.

Would you look at us yesterday and believed we scored 8 in one game this season?

Battered by the Arse. And then some. That was Dalglish-era modern Liverpool. That was a seriously woeful performance. When Brenda gets it wrong he does so in style. Utterly piss poor midfield. But Kolo Toure was diabolically awful. Lovren must be amazed that even though he's had a poor season a donkey like Toure gets on the sheet ahead of him. Markovic did nothing. Sterling was incredibly weak and did his usual of running 15 feet with the ball until he lost it. Sakho is still confusing the shit out of me by having been flashy, composed and imposing in France but looking terrified for Liverpool. I really have nothing good to say about that performance.

Arsenal looked tasty mind. Even with Cazorla having an off day. Coquelin still looks shit hot. Another star purchase in the summer and I think they might have cracked it. Plus they can offload Walcott and Wilshere and finally move on from trying to fit them into a team with much better players there. I mean Walcott was hoping to replace Henry when Henry was still there - and still hasnt progressed at all. Wilshere hasn't moved on either. Credit to Ramsey that he did and looks every bit as worthy as Ozil, Cazorla and Alexis in there. Lets see if Oxlade-Chamberlain can actually move on too - he still seems relatively aimless often.

Although I did read Diaby is getting a new contract. That's someone who hasn't played since May 2006 bar a few token appearances and who Wenger still says is a wonderful player. Seriously - how would he actuallly know now?

All of Arsenal's goals were quality. I think they'll deservedly get 2nd this season, they're clicking at just the right time. Liverpool were on that mental run of unbeaten games and people were talking about them as probable runners-up, but United seem to have knocked the wind out of their sails. Sterling continues to be brilliant for everyone else. Injury prone, overrated and if he isn't offloaded for nothing he'll be on £120k a week which will stop them buying someone decent. It proves again how mighty Suarez was in dragging a bang-average team and has badly exposed Rogers. I think he's in trouble and may not be there next season. I hope he is.

United were excellent first half yesterday, some of the best football we've played in years. Quick tempo and playing high up the pitch. Herrera and Mata and Carrick look like they believe in each other and we even saw a rare slip from Dave the Save. Rooney was poor again, but scored a cracker and never stopped trying.

Shearer calling Adam's belter "goal of the century" proves he and his ilk should be put out to grass. It was a beauty, but will never match John O'Shea's winner in front of the Kop in 2007.

Good grief, please can we fast forward to the end of the season to save me from watching any more dire performances from Spurs.

I dont know how irrational the board are - but you know there are a few rabidly angry that essentially those two performances have guaranteed your lot return to CL football. Which will infuriate them. With Thursday night nightmare football returning to Anfield too. In modern football it's easier for a board to get shot of someone earlier rather than later to generate a reason to piss money up the wall - so I do actually think Brenda will get sacked in the summer as an impetus to bring in an actual name with history rather than hiring a coach from a lower level club as was done with Brenda and Woy. Then the club can float spending another $100 million on players. I just hope its not mid-table pish again - that's getting really old. Irony being now the club may lose Henderson who's at the end of his contract and bizarrely is the better player now in that midfield. Sigh.

Brenda can wank on about loyalty and whatnot but I strongly recall his "how dare you even ask" crap about never wanting to leave Swansea when the Liverpool job was floated. With that same self-righteous smirk too and a quivering-voiced tale about how his parents are bigger than football and he wouldnt leave them. Then he quit Swanseaa few days later for a club that could "match his ambition." Sterling it would appear has the same over-inflated view of himself that Brenda has. I really dont begrudge wanting to jump ship to something bigger as long as you're realistic about what you are and opportunities ahead. But his agents nonsense about Real Madrid last season and Arsenal now is beyond absurd considering he's just not that good. Liverpool are stuck in that gap between building something with improving younger players and buying risky outsider players. Brenda's problem is practically nobody he's bought has improved the club. He does have some tactical nous. And if he channeled his demented motivational salesman bilge into something savvier he could be a decent coach. But he already thinks he's the dogs Joe Allen. Christ the Echo are now even asking if his "that was a wonderful performance" David Brent speak when we get tanked 4-1 is total bollocks.

Yeah, fast forwarding to the end of the season doesn't sound like a bad thing at the moment ...

Just the FA cup to **** up next, then we can call it done.
