So, Arsenal having got rid of Podolski, now get rid of Sanogo. Seems a bit strange, dare I say it, short sighted from Wenger (a man typically renowned for his excellent vision)?

One doesn't feature (despite having a decent scoring record), the other is completely unproven at PL level....them both leaving, even on loans, potentially frees up some 'wages cash' for another arrival. With Sanchez on fire, and Giroud returned to action, they look ok to me in attack...Wenger's big problem position is still a reliable defensive midfielder in the old Vieira/Petit mould, and I would bet he regrets letting Song leave, as he has been excellent for West Ham this year. Ramsey has also been disappointing after last season's displays, but you wouldn't bet against them scraping in for a CL spot again this season.

Never would, probably at our expense (Man Utd).

I suppose I'm surprised that Wenger is basically banking on Sanchez and Giroud remaining fit, despite moaning about how tired Sanchez is already. I mean when it really comes down to it, if Giroud gets injured, you're counting on Welbeck to get you goals, and though he'll get a few, he's never going to be prolific, whereas Podolski would always get you something.

I just hope Wenger never sees that big hole you mention in the midfield. Hopefully Arteta will come back soon and he'll forget about buying a decent defensive midfield, or perhaps Diaby will make his usual end of season cameo.

Arteta and Debuchy are crocked for three months.

Well, Diaby better be fighting fit then.

Apparently Wenger is after Hummels and someone else from Dortmund. Wenger buying a centre back? Doubt it.

Then again he could always try and outbid Citeh's 480M for Messi. If that really happens it will be insane.

I hope it does, only to see Ryan Shawcross or Kevin Nolan break his leg in about 7 places within the first 5 minutes of his first game.

I doubt they can buy him, and pay his wages, and stay inside the fair play rules.

They could just get that New York team to buy him and then loan him to them, that seems to work.

Then be subsequently booed by Stoke fans every time he plays thereafter.

Does anyone know if the New York team actually exists or is it just a 'front' to allow the Arabs to 'buy' players and let them join citeh 'on loan' to stay the right side of the FFP rules...?!?

Don't worry everyone. Arsene noted that he needed defenders after showing Sanogo and Podolski the door so bought a 17 year old midfielder. He's probably short in midfield....

The Podolski situation is absurd to me. He's an automatic choice for Germany. Has been for a long time and is part of the reason Germany have grown into the freakishly good international team they are based on 20 or so regular players that adapt to a system. Yet Arsenal are woefully short up front so Wenger persisted with Sanogo - who clearly isn't good enough. Every time Arsene gave Podolski a go he played him out wide left. He still scored quite often mind. Then Arsene would drop him indefinitely. Case in point being talking up how Podolski has an opportunity due to injuries so he scores two in that game and....never to play for Arsenal again. Not sure what it is but Wenger has a habit of letting his actual class players go each season. This summer (if Wenger stays and I seriously have my doubts) you just know another three of Arsenals better group will leave.

The heat will be cranked up on Wenger if they take a beating at City tomorrow.

His job is safe as long as they get 4th. I think he'll walk away at the end of next season anyway.

Be interesting to see what direction the club go in. I guess we'll learn if Wenger was restricted in the transfer market by his board or by his own restraint.

Great win yesterday.

Newcastle had a good shout for a penalty, if it was the other way round I'd feel aggrieved but such is, these things 'balance out' and stuff.

A lot of Wengers decisions defy logic. I would also suggest that many ex Arsenal players thrive at other clubs (with fewer injuries).

Apart from that, he's a great team motivator
