Default Premier League 2014-15

You know, I've a sneaking suspicion we might try and sign a French player or two this window.....

HUGE Loan signing for Saints. Ryan Bertrand. Good player, good signing albeit on loan but happy with it.

Waiting for Liverpool to bid though, bit nervous.

I know its corny....but this coming close season, and the this coming season,

you'de have to be a saint, to carry on supporting Southampton..
I hope they dont implode, Everton n Soton are my soft spot teams.
foxes will still be happy if we could get 4-6 pts from both

Probably not Pogba or Benzema though.

Yeah Bertrand isn't Shaw, but should do a good job for you.

I understand why you're nervous, but Southampton aren't the first to come back from a summer holiday to find all their valuables taken by a bloke from Liverpool.

Agreed, he's a decent player.

We're 100% in preseason, so all is still fine. As long as we get to play Swindon / Brighton every week.

LOL another case of a club thinking it's bigger than it really is.

Very close in attenance figures to Southampton with a divisions difference compared to Brighton.

Who? Saints? We're a nothing club, like everyone in the Prem apart from United, Chelsea, City(?), Liverpool, Arsenal etc.

I still think Chelski and City are "nothing" clubs to use your pejorative term - albeit with rich ("benevolent") owners.

I would argue that Spurs and Everton have better claims than Chelski or City to be "something" clubs. If you look back a few years those 2 and Arse, Utd and Liv were the big 5 with the influence at the FA, whereas City and Chelski were fighting the Geordies for the Division 2 title.

Chelski and City have used the Leeds/Blackburn approach to date (but with the owners' money not debt) and that hasn't make them something clubs - although, in balance, the trophy cabinets are less empty.

That said, City are now following a mix of the Barcelona/Utd models so things could maybe change in the next 2 or 3 years as the revenue generation increases and reliance on Sheik Sugar Daddy reduces.

As ever, I think you're downplaying citeh's 'size', Mike- citeh have always been a 'big' club, perhaps not as big as United, Liverpool or Arsenal, but a genuine big club. Chelsea are now regarded as a 'big' club, thanks to the Russian thief's sustained investment to keep them at the top, but as you say, not so long ago they were a 'nuisance' club to the big clubs more than anything...then again, Leeds United used to be a 'big' club, so no-one has a divine right to stay at the 'top table'....

One good thing the big clubs did achieve over the weekend was breaking the football attendance record in the US to the tune of 109,000.

Real played someone....

Mike's like one of those kids at school/uni who always walked into an exam saying 'I haven't revised at all, I'm going to do really crap' and then always managed to get straight A's.

Mike just admit City is a big club and will probably win the league again this season.

Citeh always used to be an English club though.... Now they've joined the Harlem Globe trotteresque lot.

I wonder how long it will take them to achieve Arsenal and a few others record before they field a 100 pct non English team

And we wonder why England's hope of ever winning the World Cup again has gone down the swanny!
