Lionesses...

Looking good so far in the quarter finals (v Norway) that second goal was excellent.

Almost half time, two up.

Re: Lionesses...

Now comes the tricky bit vs USA on Tuesday.

USA are the world's best ranking team, I haven't (yet) watched the whole of their match against France, in the few minutes that I did catch live there was a blatant USA dive in the box, prompting the commentators to remark that that was the second dive in a short space of time...

But whatever the outcome on Tuesday, this is also good news

(Cut'n'pasted from the BBC)

The result also means there will be a Great Britain women's team at Tokyo 2020 because England are guaranteed to be one of the top three European teams at the World Cup.

Slightly off the thread title (so bite me :p)

Netherlands took Italy out with two headers (Stefanie van der Gragt's was arguably the better) and they await... Sweden. Excellent result against the 2nd world ranking team.

England should get a thumping in the semi, USA should be able to pounce on those poor passes that England have done throughout the tournament with little punishment .
Here is hoping that I am wrong.

Hoping you're wrong too ;) the Lionesses all watched last night's match together, they should have picked some hints up. Yes, agreed, the passing "could be better".

I don't want to shift blame, certainly before Tuesday evening, but the quality of refereeing has been questionable throughout so far.

As I'm about to hit submit, Sweden pop their second against Germany... SE 2, FD 1.

Thank goodness I remembered to record Glastonbury.

It has been great to watch so many of the games.
So much less drama than watching the men! I hope the English ladies get through their semi final, but if not they should be proud of their performances. Well done Mr Neville ( who'd have thought it!)

It's been great watching the girls, even the old man who previously poo poohed women's football has got into it.

Like you say no prima donna tantrums, just football.

Having seen all but one England game, yes, many mistakes have been made with some really poor passing, but also many good moves.

From what I saw of the France-USA game both teams looked well ahead of England.

On a point of optimism, the England performances have got better and better, even if the mistakes have been constant.

One other thing I noticed about the US team, they were definitely more like the men - cynical or professional, whichever description preferred. Appealing for throw-ins that very obviously weren't theirs, holding an opponent's arm and making their pull look like being pushed, stuff like that.
But mainly, they weren't averse to thumping into opponents, fairly recklessly I thought.

Anyone think a bit of mind games going on with the Spygate business?

We are camping, I hope to watch the game tomorrow, but it will be touch and go. Usually reception where we are but the BBC through a DNS on the phone can't be relied on.
All good points you make Bristol.
