Sergio Perez tested positive for Covid-19. Mercedes reserve driver Esteban Guitierrez will stand in.

Good chance to shine in a pink Mercedes?

Buggering off home to visit someone right out of hospital (mother) in a high risk country doesn't seem like the brightest of ideas right now. So much for "protocols" I guess.

Looks like Hulk gets the drive.

Hamilton wins for the 7th time in the british GP, puncture with 1/2 a lap to go, but he managed to hold on, Bottas also a puncture. out of the points, all happening on the last lap.

Poor old Max, gains one point to lose seven. It would have benefited the championship had he not pitted.

It'll be interesting to see what Pirelli conclude about the cause and if they make any changes.

Hopefully not much. Because next weekend is gonna suck if they go more conservative. Today’s race was only saved by the last two laps.

What do you make of Ferrari announcing their next target for a win as being 2022?

At least the midfield scrap is fun. Just need to ignore the front of the grid.

I only half heard the plan for next week is a different selection of tyres - is it harder compounds or softer?

.
A statement released by the FIA, Formula 1’s governing body, admitted that while it reached an agreement with Ferrari that has so-far remained private, it was not fully satisfied that the engine was operated legally.

Why the secrecy?

Sounds fishy and unsporting to me.

Not sure, but O bet the teams tyre strategy will change, only a one stop this time, and it was right at the end that the 4 punctures happened. so I bet they go for a two stop.

Borrowed from Pprune -

However, for the British GP this weekend, the tyres will be a step harder than the opening three races of the year in Austria and Hungary. So, instead of the C2, C3 and C4 compounds, the harder C1, C2 and C3 will be used. And just to spice things up, that allocation will revert to the softer C2, C3 and C4 compounds for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone the following week, providing an interesting strategy conundrum for the teams over the course of two races at the same track in successive weeks.

It's possible, they could run in Formula E by 2022 after all.

How could you possibly forecast your future competitiveness? Doing so just highlights how desperate they are.

Yeah.. They have to be looking at a 2 stop race now at the least I would think. Assuming they have the tires already at the track then I expect they will want to tweak the allowed pressure's as well.

Maybe weather can help us out. It IS the UK, after all.

They (Ferrari) were championing (lol) the reintroduction of "customer cars" again last week. Maybe that is so they can buy a couple of Mercs.

So hoping Merc get bored and go away. Car companies owning teams have been F1s biggest downfall.
