I'm still not happy.
I don't know how true it is (seeing as it was the press claiming it) but apparently Rooney's job was to annoy Pirlo. Which he didn't do. He did annoy me though.

I thought Rooney's job was to score goals. Even if the claim is a Press fabrication you'd think the team would know Pirlo was a threat and have a game-plan for this?

I'm still not happy.

So it's final day. I'm really hopin that Italy play as well as they did against Germany. It's about time Spain were taken down a peg or two. At the very least we wan a good game, this tournament generally ha been excellent despite a lack of 'stories'

Would like Italy to win, and some good attacking footy would be nice.

Brilliant

Well it was a good tournament, its hard to criticise when Spain played some of the best football I've ever seen in the final.

The problem with living in the Bay Area is that everyone and their mother is either a Barcelona or Real Madrid fan, and by default will almost entirely pick Spain above their actual home country, even some non-Hispanics. Now I have to put up with them for another two years at least. Great.

We have a similar problem in Africa. Everyone supports either United or Liverpool (City and Chelsea growing in popularity for some reason!) and the national sides (especially South Africa) are crap - so people support England, Germany or Spain. Although when it comes to organised homosexuality (rugby) they hate the Poms and support the Boks, and can't understand why I rip the piss out of them for this.

I don't mind people supporting whichever team from whichever country they want. But support your national side FFS.....

Where I live you can be sure of two things.

1 - Women under 30 either have a fake tan, less teeth than me, tramp stamps (usually of motorcycle handlebars) or all three at the same time.
2 - If you meet a football fan they inevitably support Man Utd.

And why not. When a world class player like Rooney shows up at an LA rap party with Shaun wright Phillips, Zat Knight, Ashley Cole and Stephen Ireland it's he alone that makes American women swoon and American men wonder if everyone in the UK looks like a shaved albino gorilla having a shit.
