They're supposed to be playing Robinson in goal instead of Calamity James

Not convinced by Robinson ... what happened to the days of a queue of fine English goalkeepers fighting it out for a place? In Shilton's case he was fighting his wife but even so ... too many imports ... etc, etc ...

Kirkland is ok, when he's not injured, same with Richard Wright. Not too sure about Ian Walker though. I still prefer Robinson to James, I'm not saying that Robinson is better, but we need to see more of him playing for England see if he's a genuine contender for the no. 1 shirt.

Good point, not going to improve without regular games at this level (well, not Wales, but the other nations ).

Any predictions or do you prefer not to tempt fate?

If we were playing a similarly ranked team from osmewhere sles in the world, it would be an easy win for England, but since their is a bit of local rivalry, then who knows.

Half-time

1-0 England. Played fairly well for most of the half, though Wales have had a couple of chances through Speed. Rooney looks lively, all over the pitch. Bring on the 2nd half!

Default 2-0 England

A 20-yard cracker from Beckham should settle it with <15 mins to go.

The ticker had the goal, then it dissappeared, and now it's back, with Becks sent off...what the hell happened?

He was not sent off, he got a yellow card and went off injured. Anyway the final whistle just went: 2-0 to England. Suggested headline for tomorrow's papers:

Taff Luck Boyos!

Lampard wasn't offside, Bellamy should have scored, ergo 3:1

Full Time

Beckham got a bit silly after his goal and got booked - meaning he'll miss the game on Wednesday. He was also hobbling after his foul left him worse off.
Overall a good England performance, game went to book. Robinson only made one save from memory, while Jones made quite a few good saves. Rooney had an excellent first half but got a bit big-headed in the second and decided he was gonna win the game single-handed. Great player but he must be slightly less greedy against the better teams.
