Default Daytona 500

Anyone catching the spectacle today? I'll be watching it.

Its a spectacle? Don't they just drive around and around in circles?

Personally think its a stretch to cal this a motorsport....

Cars within inches of each other driving 200mph where one bad move is catastrophic is definitely a motorsport.

Very much a mental challenge to keep focus as well as a physical challenge with the forces exerted.

Also there are some road courses.

Gotta group 'em all up to keep the advertisments on screen.

I don't dislike the road courses, but ovals? That's a big fat NOPE from me.

I dont enjoy multi-class racing, I can never keep track, when the third car is first, and the fourth car is second.
Edit: Never mind, Now I am getting my races mixed up.

I especially love the mountain dew and Dr pepper Chevy with the Wonder bread decals and the TurboTax fender. Not forgetting the flashing neon hooters sign on top.

NOt convinced. I'm not too much of a fan of F1 either. I watch it occasionally but when you start comparing it against real motorsport such as WRC or Moto GP.... then its kind of a bit meh.... then step those up and compare them to something like the TT and that makes Indycar or whatever the Daytona is look like an amateur motorsport. The fact that fat Americans can do it and no one else is really that bothered doesn't really put it in a good light.

At least it isnt as processional as F1 seems to have become in recent times I guess.

I watched the first 10 laps that was it. Daytona is an amazing facility, that's why I tuned in. Praying to God on behalf of the drivers, driving round in circles, caution flags every 10'laps or so are just some of the reasons I can't get into this type of Motorsport.

It's seems to be accidents that make F1 less processional most of the time, sometimes taking favourites right out of the race. NASCAR can be a parade too.
