I'd forgot it was on. But its nice to see my former hometown win again

Does this mean the Grand National is coming up soon?.

Theres not much gets my goat, but those toffee nosed Tarquins punting around in their stupid skinny canoes while their hooray henry parents cheer them on from the banks through gobfulls of salmon vol-au-******-vents really gets on my tits!

It no more traditional than my uncles whippet racing but that doesn't get on the tele does it!!!! (I have an uncle who races 'em honest!)

Anyway, rant over.

How come oxford and Cambridge always get to the final?

When will it be Hull University against Sheffield Hallam?

Right on my Northern Brother. The Hull lot would muller 'em. Poor little Tarquin would be wimpering for mumsy before they'd pulled 2 strokes. (they're usually a spent force after a couple of pulls anyway).

just joshing, before you Southern Shandy drinker start crying.

LOL

I watched it off the beeb site just after the race.

Don't get me wrong, 30 years of living in Cambridge gave me plenty of time to hate the posh twats who go to college there. But the boat race(and the rugby) are the only times I cheer for them. Plus most of the people in the boat are American or from somewhere in Europe. Hardly the old toffs game that it was.

Right. Does that include me? I went to Cambridge Uni as a student and now I work for the uni. Wouldn't consider myself a posh twat. Bit of social stereotyping going on here, perhaps??!!

I'm educating myself WBB. Trying to shake off the mantle of posh twat. Although don't expect me to start discussing football as I know nothing about it. Rugby, yes. Aussie rugby league, definitely. But no football.

I'm off to post something controversial on 'take it outside'

Yep, sorry Loose, it's all true. I am a graduate and now employee if this venerable institution. If it's any consolation, I went to non-posh college populated mainly by northerners and we didn't prance about in gowns or have bizarre hazing rituals. Just normal people really.

I totally agree that there are some prize w**nkers at Cambridge - I know, because I went out with several of them. Which is probably why I've ended up engaged to an outback aussie bush boy. And, if you still need consolation, I refused to buy into the whole 'job in the City' Cambridge graduate ethos and went to work on a sheep station. Neither am I rich (I bursaried my way through Uni), nor do I live off a hefty allowance and I had connections with Cambridge way before I went to Uni here.

I'm not a Tarquin, honest!
