Coutinho was Liverpool's highest scorer last season, wasn't he?

Yep, with 14 total. 13 in the league.

I imagine we'll do the same as we did with Suarez and hold on to Phil for another season. Money isn't worth anything if no-one is prepared to sell you anyone so it's better to make that Barca's problem than ours.

Whilst he's probably our best player I don't think he's the difference between top 4 or not though as he's not the most consistent player and is also injury prone so we've had to make do without him before. I see him as more of a Steve McManaman type.

As in he will eventually end up in Spain.

No African Cup of Nations should help Liverpool this season. Mane was great for them.

If he goes (and he's obviously desperate to) then you won't finish 5th, you'll finish 8th.

Fingers crossed.

Going by the number of teams in the British Expats League, are we in Scotland?

If they want to get back into their Europa League next year they should focus on the league cup. 7th won't be enough #InArseneWeTrust #FanTVWillBeGoodTonight

I can't work out if this is a brilliant game or an awful one....

Comical defending. Can't see either team keeping many clean sheets this season.

My 2017/18 resolution is to not comment on refs, and I'm not breaking that rule to comment on Mike ****ing Dean.

You can't fault the excitement but I think we were subjected to some very poor defending.

Arsenal gave the ball away far too easily in their own halve in the first half. Horrible concentration and movement.

It's only the first game but I don't think any of the teams who finished around Arsenal last season have anything to be concerned about on the evidence of that.

Mahrez looked sharp. Surprised no one has come in for him?
