I suppose when you have signed the slightly better version of Emile Heskey, Neymar who is world class is 'not expensive'!

It's such a relief that despite all these supposed sanctions the Qatari's are able to move their money around so freely. At least we know they can still buy food for their populous.

Manager of the Year?: Jose Mourinho
REASONABLE (ie. not Messi) Player You Wish Your Team Had Signed (but didn't)?: Mbappe.

So - Liverpool have been drawn against Hoffenheim in the ECL.

For anyone wondering who they are, they're a small, once-famous club from the North West of England.

Re: British football thread 2017-2018

1 Tottenham Hotspur- London's biggest club in the national stadium on a big pitch where their rivals will have no where to hide.
2 Chelsea- the CL commitments will not allow them to have the easy run they had last year
3 United- Not West Ham United. The bus parking of last season plus Lukaku adding a couple of goals should see them re-emerge as one of the better clubs again who can finally play for trophies that mean something
4 City- With that outlay even Fraudiola canfinish 4th although City apparently won the league last week with a 3-0 friendly win. The first team to win it in July which is audacious even by Liverpool fan standards. Actually I'll add a proviso here. If City get Sanchez they will finish above United.
5 Liverpool or Arsenal
6
7 Everton
8 I expect WBA, Swansea, Palace and Saints to be around the other top half spots.

Relegation: The promoted sides always look vulnerable. I think Newcastle could stay up out of those 3.

Top scorer: Kane was injured for chunks of last season and still won. If he is fit for two thirds it's in the bag. If he is fit the whole season we could see a record number of goals.
Player of the Year: Who knew Sissoko would win back Poch's faith and turn into a world beating attacking midfielder inspiring the famous Tottenham side of 17/18 and earning a 300 million move back home to Paris.
Young Player of the Year: No real interest.
Best Summer Purchase: Neymar. Oh he went to Paris. No real game changers in the premier league. Costa leaving is a blow for Chelsea.
Biggest Flop: If Lukaku picks up an injury then United will finish 6th again
Best Bargain: Wayne Rooney
To Have a Poor Season?: Kyle Walker
Surprisingly Good Season?: Wayne Rooney
Player to Act the Biggest Twat?: No Terry or Costa??? Jack Wheelchair has the highway to himself
First Managerial Casualty?: Hmmmm..no idea
Manager of the Year?: Pochettino - He's magic don't you know
