Yeah, he's a good player and a definite upgrade on what we have now.

Speaking of DDG, has Woodward plugged the fax machine back in yet?

He's still under the desk, rocking back and forth telling himself he is good at his job.

Pickford to Everton then for £30m. Could be an absolute bargain. Especially when he then gets sold on to Barcelona for £60m in 6months. Good business either way.

I was hoping United would get him, especially if/when DDG goes to Spain. He's obviously just decided to join a big club instead.

Sunderland just prefer shipping their keepers to Liverpool. Is Pickford actually good or is he just English so good until the press decide he's shit?

From everything I've seen I think he is a good keeper, personally I would have preferred Heaton from Burnley, but happy with him.

He definitely made plenty of save last season, but because Sunlun were so bad still shipped plenty of goals. The big thing for keepers at the top level is having the concentration to pull off a top quality save in the 92nd minute when you've had nothing to do all game.

Not good news for Joe Hart. He will end up rotting on the bench at City now unless of course he is now destined for Tyneside.

It was obvious as soon as Koeman said he was never interested in Hart last summer that he'd seen something and decided not to take a punt on him. And after the season Hart's had he called it right.

You're right though, there isn't a single team in the top 8 at least where Hart would get a look in.

Agree with that. He looks decent through and his ability to pick out a man in a crowd from 50 yards is admirable and will be useful if you decide to play counter-attacking football.

Joe Hart. England's number 5. Seriously - knowing Woodward we'll end up buying him to replace De Gea. The championship is absolutely his level.

not on bench - Ederson on pitch, Clownio on bench, Hart in stands

Miss me, princess...?? :p

Nah, not on the old thread....just not on ANY thread as the 'subscribe' thing for this thread seems to decide on a daily basis whether it wants to alert me to new posts or not... and recently it has decided 'not'... :(

As to the 'bantz' I've missed; Pickford will be a good investment for Everton...never worth £30m now but he will be in 2 years. Still, the Toffees have done better than citeh, who have spunked a huge chunk on a relatively unknown kid (however big he is physically... and he IS!!), though I guess they have so much dough that they can afford to gamble & get it totally wrong... Clownio, anyone..?? :sneaky:

Fixture list? Very happy with that for us.... relatively kind start, Everton at OT the first 'big' fixture, and nothing stressful until we go down the M62 to Dipper Central in October. Could have been a lot worse.

Pogba haters.... there'll be shit-loads of humble pie available from August- make sure you have an appetite, as the boy takes the PL by storm.

Re: British football thread 2017-2018

Chelsea at Wembley is not an ideal first game.

After that though we have Burnley, Swansea and Bournemouth there. We will need to be up to speed after that if we are going to contend again.

We only took 35 points aways from home last season so need to also do 10% better there as our away form at the likes of some of the mid-table clubs was not strong.

76 points was CL qualification guaranteed last year. Once upon a time that was enough to be a title contender which shows you how much smaller the margin of failure a club can afford now is.

As for predictions I think Chelsea, Spurs and United will be the Top 3 in no particular order. City and Liverpool fighting for 4th.

It will be interesting to see if Wenger can quell the fan hostility when Arsenal drop their first points.
