I should renew my England Fans membership so that I can go and boo them for that type of performance..

A win over Wales who are little better than a pub side followed by a flukey win against a weakened Belgium had idiots thinking they were world class - shades of the "Golden Generation" who actually should have been called the boots of lead generation....won nothing, never looked like winning anything and contained some of the most over rated players of all time...

Very well explained summary but you miss the point. If Yernited and the Dippers are being lambasted by others about it being a FSG/Glazers rip off which I took no view or interest in then it is somewhat hypocritical of other clubs like Citeh to call them out when they are not virgins or holier than thou. Football I have been saying for years is a business and the big clubs really don't care about the fans as there are other mugs who will pony up the money to go and watch them and those people won't be from estates like Moss Side or Wythenshawe. I am prepared to pay my $150 subscription annually to watch it and that's it as I no longer live in the UK. If I did live in the UK then the prospect of paying 40 quid a ticket if you can even get one is not that appealing being away from the game for so long.

You miss the point, making up untruths about other clubs will not detract from the repulsion people feel about your lot and Red scouse proposing this rip off.

For the record I am comfortable with Citeh using Barca as a footballing model but much less content with following a Yernited type business model.

Your club pioneered the business is more important than football model... shame on them... but it did enable them to buy a lot of trophies....

In their statement, CAS said that “MCFC has contravened Article 56 of the Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations” and would have to pay a 10million euros fine – slashed from 30million – within 30 days of the judgment.
I guess when you have buckets/bathtubs full of money the odd 10 million fine is just pocket change.

You and FL both posted that City were fined 10 mil, down from 30 mil. Where's the alleged fake news?

Some iffy decisions there, Pickford's foul on VVD was worth a red and not sure how Henderson's goal is offside if they're saying the armpit is the where the arm counts, pictures I see show the defender's arse inline with Mane's elbow and way ahead of his armpit. Could be worse though, the fullbacks tracked back better today and Gomez was much better than last time despite having no VVD next to him. Adrian was still poor though.

Now here is irony a Scouser saying they were robbed as opposed to them doing the robbing I expected more from Everton today especially at home or was that just from reading stories about how improved they supposedly are. Now not looking forward to Saint Maximin running at the Yernited defence today especially if it's Lindelof or Maguire who is doubtful.

Why VAR, which is meant to assist, isn’t allowed to opine on the VVD tackle is beyond me. Should have been red.

And as for the offside? Not offside. How can they be sure they have frozen at exactly the right point? Move it a frame and it becomes onside even using those stupid interpretations of it. That should remain onside (or referee’s call at least).

ASM can blow hot and cold. If he’s hot today I’m looking forward to him tearing a few new ones.

I have a theory on this. I'm speaking generally.
There are two categories - Fouls and Misconduct
You can get red cards for violent conduct - coming under the latter because it's not involving a foul. Violent conduct is misconduct.
You can get a red card for committing a foul that involves excessive force or serious foul play.

The offside decision meant that no foul was committed so the only way it could be a red card would come under misconduct. Since it involved a challenge for the ball - a normal feature of the game, no matter that it was a bad one - I'm guessing that it could not be deemed misconduct in the way a forearm smash or punch would be.

In the Guardian report it said The VAR officials chose not to consider a possible – clear – red card for the Everton goalkeeper for serious foul play.
Since there was no foul how could there be foul play?

It's daft of course but there's a certain logic to it.

Further...from the FA website
VIOLENT CONDUCT
Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.

In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.
Pickford was challenging for the ball so none of that applies.
SERIOUS FOUL PLAY
A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.
Now this one certainly seems to apply to the incident...except there was no foul committed thanks to the offside.
Any reasonable person might describe it as an assault but the misconduct rule seems to indicate that can only happen when there's no challenge for the ball.
