The epidemic continues
From today's Guardian:
Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard will miss the game against Wolves because of illness.
Lethargy?

I don't fancy their chances against Wolves with or without them so I doubt it matters.

Yeah we're not going to beat Wolves. Frankly I would rather get dumped out of the cup at this point - at least that way we can focus on the league.

Looks like everybody in the West Ham woman's team wants a transfer.

According to BT Sport, tonight was the first time in 5yrs that Utd failed to have a shot on target in a domestic game.

It was Solskjaer's turn to seek a breakthrough from the bench and it almost paid off instantly when Rashford's shot was deflected onto the crossbar within seconds of his arrival. I didn't see the game but was Rashfords shot heading towards the corner flag?

Rashford's on target shot was deflected up and onto the crossbar. Dalot also had a shot on target that was deflected by a team mate (Greenwood?) and out for a goal kick. Apparently the accuracy of a shot is nothing to do with whether it's on target but is determined by who prevents it going in. By all accounts it needs to be saved by the keeper

That aside, I swear I've heard "no shots on target" said about ManU a few times this season in domestic games.

winner gets a place in UEFA Euro League. Personally would prefer that the rules changed back to the runner up getting the UEFA spot if the winner already qualified for Europe, but that’s a UEFA thing not FA.

Well that was an unexpected result, though I suspect Everton would've won if Kelleher was in goal rather than Adrian. Didn't really see much from Minamino but it's a bit early to judge him, especially with so few first team players around him. Also as impressive as Elliot usually is his passing was absolutely terrible today.

well Klippety must be furious, you can't even take a dive in a cup when you are playing Everton it seems.

I've always felt that a team lucky enough to be in a final (I say lucky because luck of the draw plays a big part over a handful of games) should at least have to win it.

Personally I like that if the winner has already qualified, the place goes to the next place in the league table because that is the true measure.

I'm even tempted by the idea that winning one of the cups should only get a Europa place subject to finishing above a certain place in the league.

It doesn't seem right that in near or actual relegation seasons, teams like Hull (route to final - Middlesbrough, Southend, Brighton, Sunderland and Sheffield Utd) or Wigan (route to final - Bournemouth, Macclesfield, Huddersfield, Everton, Millwall) should get a European place (especially if they lose) when teams finishing 6th in the league may not.

There's a whole other argument to be had about how the record of English clubs in the UEFA/Europa competitions was poor for many years because the bulk of the entries came from lover level clubs benefiting from lucky cup draws, together with the throwing in of the towel coupled with the Prem teams generally not parachuting in after failing at the CL group stage.

It wasn't unexpected for me just a return to our woeful form for the last couple of years after a slight blip in the last few games.

In Ancelotti and Brands we supposedly have two of the best in the world at what they do. It's going to take a lot of work. The trouble is even though we have money from Moshiri and maybe Usmanov now FFP is going to screw us.
