As others have said, it was a non-event of a final, for a neutral. Congrats to Liverpool. Now can we get the 19-20 thread going and never mention this again?

I thought that was a bit odd that they got medals. I wonder if we'll have one spare for Karius, I know he turned down the invitation to the final claiming he didn't want to be a distraction but Alberto Moreno and Lovren both got medals so I don't see why he shouldn't get one as well.

From what I read the winning team get 40 medals, they can give them to whoever they want. I assume the squad and staff get priority though.

That's my understanding too. Better that the kit man and boot boy get medals before a player getting the majority of his wages from another team, no disrespect to Karius intended at all by that.

I arrived in the USA in 2006, the year after Liverpool's last European cup win. Back then hardly anyone knew who Liverpool were, those that did, had no particular interest.(Man U were the team of recognition then, Chelsea a little too)
It's a million miles different this year. The LFC supportes club pub sold out at $25.00 a ticket for the final watch party. The overflow pub sold out too. I now see a good few LFC shirts around town, people let on to me when they see my shirt.
Some of this is of course bandwagonig, but it's also a reflection of the increased profile of LFC in particular, but EPL in general in the USA, and possibly beyond.

It's the growth of the Premier League's international TV deals that has made the game accessable.

Cant blame this loss on penalties.

Not likely, I don't give two hoots about international football, I'd rather Liverpool players were on the beach somewhere as we have a match in July.

And England are back to the usual. First time they play a decent team, they can't raise their game enough.

Gone are the days when every player in the 1st 11 was a leader.
