Baffling.... Nani can't be any better than he was before he left (consistently inconsistent), he's two years older (therefore no quicker)... I don't get it. I hope the fee is minimal. Surely another nail in poor Juan Mata's United career 'coffin'....

He's better than Kleberson,
Anderson son son
He's our midfield magician.
To the left, to the right,
To the samba beat tonight,
With the brass he is class,
And he SHITS ON FABREGAS !!!

Sung at first without irony, and then in a very sad, sombre, resigned stylie when we realized exactly what we had (or rather didn't have).

As long as young Johnny is pitching up at the Emptihad, NOT OT, I'll be happy enough to have avoided that 'bullet'.... hugely overpriced IMO, simply because he is young & English.

Last I heard he was going to be offered a new contract and told he was staying for another year. But I'm sure if the price is right that could change. I'd be a lot happier with Koeman using the money to buy replacement defenders that I would if Martinez was still in charge.

Oh and I just read he turned down Barca because, he'd prefer a move to Manchester. That sounds like a Barnsley lad to me.

I dunno, I see the argument, but he was coached terribly by Martinez so has succeeded in spite of that. Plus if he is at the top for ten years, then would say 40M be overpriced if it works out at 4M a year?

Did he 'succeed' though? IMO he has gone horribly backwards this season...last summer I would have given 25m for him, now I'd rather he went to citeh if the price is that high (or presumably even higher)....

He's had a horrible season, seemingly being told he should sit deep and play the ball out from the back, which has led to a lot of errors and the lad's confidence visibly eroding...as you say, that all may be down to Bobby M insisting that he adopt that style of play, but Stones needs to get back to being a commanding CB, and leaving he actual 'football' to players in front of him with much more technical ability....

Like I said last summer, I think John's best move would be no move at all, staying at Everton for another season to gain more PL experience.

He's no Phil Jones or Marcos Rojo, that's for sure.

But where is he going to find replacement defenders? No-one else seems to have managed to find any.

Very true - looks like Laporte is staying in Spain so we will have to keep Mangala....

In his defence (pun intended) Rojo is much better than Jones
