Default 2016 Transfer Rumours

Arsenal trigger Vardy release clause

Would you pay £20 million for a 29 year old striker?

Luis Suarez is 29, so yes most definitely.

A 35-year-old lazy, egotistical player whose best days are definitely behind him? Nah, keep him. If we are going to spend big money on a 30+ player, there's a Portuguese lad at Real Madrid that looks a bit tasty.....

A done deal apparently.

I think it's odd.

With Rashford, Martial and Rooney you'd think United were well serviced upfront and the focus would be other areas.

I've been mulling this one over.

I think his salary is reasonable and he also has a terrific work rate.

If he looks after himself he could be a decent addition for a couple of seasons although there would not be much resale value.

You have to remember the goal is to win the league and not make money. I think he would improve the Arsenal squad in that regard.

But a morally bankrupt ****, so no thanks. I'd rather have Hitler in goal.

One year contract? League winner 9 out of the past 10 seasons? He'll pay his own wages in shirt sales? Yes please. He'll bring an X-factor to United that's been missing since Ronaldo left (who isn't coming back, ever). I know the last 4 seasons have been league titles in a division slightly behind Scotland in terms of competitiveness, but he's still banging them in for Sweden, and I don't see how the players won't be improved by having him around. I can't wait to see him at OT next season.

I agree. Top scorer last season and fast, brave and deadly in front of goal. Giroud is the opposite and Welbeck is about as fit as Wilshire and Jones. if they get 2 good years out of him with Ozil / Sanchez pulling the strings behind him, I think £20m could be a bargain.

Let's face it, he's a big-name signing on a short-term contract, he's still a very decent player, and as long as Mourinho plays to his strengths Ibra is a win-win for Utd.

And as you say, he's going to make the club a fortune in shirt sales.

Get Vardy in, lose Wellbeck. I'd also try and prise Mahrez and Drinkwater from Leicester too, but it's unlikely.

I think he'd be an excellent addition for us, but can he do it again or is he a one-season wonder?

He is as I like to say "Box Office".

As a non Man-United fan I'm delighted with the signing.

Mourinho probably realises he needs a year to sort things out so a player like this will help provide some short term quality and also a demonstration that top players still want to come.

I guess if Zlatan is only costing us the wage packet, and it's a 1-year deal, fine.....even if it bombs, little damage done. At best, he can be a modern Cantona, inspiring the kids around him before retiring into the sunset and leaving the kids to carry on the good work he started; at worst, he'll hang around and rob us of a wage, but shirt sales may make up the deficit.

Vardy to Arsenal? Great for both parties. Vardy is the 'real deal', and has proven himself at all levels he has played at...at Arsenal, he'll be a constant threat, and get more service than he even did at a great Foxes side last season.....I'd have him at United every day of the week.

Vardy isn't right for Arsenal I don't tihnk. He's not a possession style attacker. He wants to break on the counter and use his pace. Camped on the edge of an opposition 18yd box isn't going to let him get far in behind.

I think he's a perfect fit for that reason. He's completely different to what we're used to and gives us a different option to what teams are used to.

Good point. Maybe it is a great potential signing.

**** it. If he signs one of the best strikers in the league then none of your fans can moan can they?

Someone will always moan, someone else to tell them to STFU, and a 3rd supporter will chant Wenger Out! While the guy behind them holds a banner saying In Wenger We Trust.

You're right. You aside, they are truly appalling fans.
