True.

Sadly it's the same for too many club owners now, Chelski, City and United included. I'm not a fan of the Glazers.

I wasn't fully aware of that 'til you mentioned it but it seems you're not mistaken at all.
Of course the attraction of foreign players to the English clubs has become greater over the last few years. You have to ask yourself why there's suddenly such an interest for the big players from overseas to play in England's Premier League, that there never was before. Ah, that'd be the money, right?

I'm not a big fan of commercialism on the huge scale that's prevalent in European top-class football now.

To be honest, I can't say I am either. Especially considering that most of the players in the top flight earn more in a year than the majority of fans that pay for season tickets will earn in a lifetime. It all seems out of balance to me.

Although I hope none of my family back home reads me as I don't think joining forces with Spur fans will be regarded as a smart move

They're a bit smug aren't they? Convinced to support the best club in the world no matter what, I think Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan might've something to say about that... anyway, I live in Barcelona and I've been a bit brainwashed by colleagues at work, it'll be very easy for me to support Messi & Co. in the final, I couldn't do otherwise even if I wanted to..

Credit must be given though to ManUtd in these cases, if you take most of their players one by one they are out of date teabags compared to Barca's, yet collectively they often pull it off, why this doesn't happen in other clubs too is beyond me, I'm curious to see what'll happen after Fergie..
Yeah well, most of my family would plant one on me if they knew I'd join forces with The Arse, but needs must and all that.

Don't worry about being too direct with the Man U losers in the CL thread, they're all pretty dense so words of one syllable are best. Watch out for Ed though, he became so abusive on one occasion, over some innocent remarks I made about a Man U v Liverpool game, I was almost forced to take out a restraining order on him.

Lucky you living in Barcelona, lovely city, we were there May 2009, caught the CL final at Plaza Catalunya, a great night for football.

What will happen after Fergie? Man U will be a mid table team (at best).

That's what I love about Barca - majority Spanish and haven't they got a good 7 or 8 players from the 2010 World Cup squad?

Shame you didn't suggest that Harry gang up with Arsen in the League.. maybe your teams would have come 2nd and 3rd, respectively?

Be honest, what you actually thought about was tying up a Man U fan. Don't make excuses for your bondage fetish.

You mean we could take Spurs old spot?

Well it might be our new spot - I've just heard the fantastic news that as well as Bale being out for the rest of the season (thanks to that animal Adam taking him out on Saturday), it would appear Modric is injured and won't be available against Man City on Tuesday......oh goody!

Bale hasn't been so sharp since that injury in mid season so I think they'll be ok without him playing. Missing Modric might be more of a problem for them.
I saw a report on ESPN where apparently Rednapp had said that Charlie Adam came and apologised to Bale for the tackle.

A sodding apology? Did you see the 'tackle' - it was atrocious, thank Christ we never bought him when we had the chance!

Yep, I'm a bit partial but they're truly a magnificient team, they didn't spend tons of money either considering the quality of their squad. Probably the only mistake they made in the past few years was to give away Eto plus tons of money for Ibrahimovic only to let him go when they realised he couldn't gel with the team, but as I said, taken one by one, ManUtd can't compare.

Too right. A Spanish friend of mine is convinced football has become a huge conspiracy to distract men from what's happening outside the pitch (petrol rising, pittance salaries, houses depreciating, unenployment..), he's barking mad, but he may have a point...

As much as I hate to say it, Man U's total team is greater than the sum of it's individual parts, I don't think the CL final is going to be a walkover in anyway.

Too bad you didn't. If you had then he'd have been kicking someone on the other team, wouldn't he?

Nonetheless we don't like cheating tossers in our squad - last time I looked were 3rd in the fair play league

Neither do I.
I'm not playing down how good they are, or the toughness of the task but if Barca think they're going to walkover United, they're in for a big shock.
