Default TV remotes using Zigbee

I just got a new cable box with an RF remote (Radio Frequency) as opposed to the more common IR remote (InfraRed). I've researched it somewhat and it uses 'Zigbee' as the standard or protocol for the RF signal. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Zigbee; I know it runs at 2.4 GHz (at least in the US), but that's about all I know. I need to figure out how to 'repeat' this signal (essentially, capture and re-transmit) so I can increase the working distance between remote and cable box.

Does anyone have any experience with Zigbee repeaters?
