Hi from the France forum. Yes, I also received a request to "be mine" and I actually reported it, thinking it was Spam/Troll or what-have-you.
Apparently these Valentine messages are sent every year and we two seem to be among the privileged few this year!

I got one which is still in by inbox and shows the member concerned has made 3 posts but it looks like those have since been removed.

The poster "Valentine" has been a secret member for years. Each year he/she sends a valentine message to a select few members. It is now spam or a troll, but someone whose identity is known only to admin.

I would report it, adding that at least 3 others received the same message. A drop in the ocean, you might say, but the paranoia in me says that he/she might come back with something less festive...

Assuming it is the same member that has been sending Valentine's messages for many years, they are just meant as a harmless bit of fun. I don't think we've ever had one reported before.

Received your report but uuummm what action are you expecting? You could add them to your ignore list.

To be honest I only reported it at the suggestion of dmu in post #6. I am not personally wanting any action and I accept that it is harmless enough.

It's been happening for many years on Valentine's Day. Just a harmless sharing of good cheer.

I didn't get one this year or last year either. but I've received a couple in the past

All I was bothered about was the fact that the Poster's 3 posts had been removed, and I immediately suspected a Troll trespassing my PMs, and therefore reported it.
So, XXXValentineXXX, you're welcome to continue this harmless good cheer!

Had it been a troll. It would have been vanquished immediately along with any posts.

Kinda spoils the whole thing really, sadly.

Absolutely. A whole lot of bother for nothing. And yes it does kind of spoil something that's been going on for the 9 years I've been around. Why can't people just accept a nice message from a random stranger and move on? Jeez, if a stranger on the street said "happy valentine's day" would they think it was some weirdo or a troll?
