Supported Employment Jobs in the USA

I work for Work Opportunities Unlimited. It has been a challenging but rewarding experience so far and a fantastic introduction to US life.
My role is helping people with disablities find and maintain jobs. There are other areas of work within the same field.

http://www.workopportunities.net

The company have asked me if there are any other people I know of who may want to work for them. If you are a Brit who is allowed to work in the US or are the US partner of a Brit reading this, there are jobs available with good prospects.

The Company mission is

Creating New Opportunities for Success in the Work Place Every Day
Their offices are currently in

Florida
Maine
Massachusetts
New Hampshire
Rhode Island
They are ever expanding and soon will be offering service in Maryland.
If you are interested look at their website if you have questions pm me.
If you apply please say you heard via Trish in Pensacola.

Rather nice of you, but have to ask, any particular reason for a Brit connection, what about any other johnny foreigner? :D

Am impressed with the amount of locations in Maine, Rockland was just up the road from me, oh well...shame about the mass ones being so far away.

Only reason for a Brit connection is I had an evaluation and they were happy with me. I guess they saw Brits as an untapped resource and asked if I know anyone else. Anyone can apply, just thought it might be an area people here have not considered.

Re what the jobs involve in reply to RichP. Imagine anything that you could do to market a person's skills, train them in jobsearch, gain access to employers, find jobs and create job openings and then when the person has a job advocate on their behalf to help them to keep it.

Its not office based, you are out in the community visiting people in their homes, workplaces etc. The website gives more information. The company are not really looking at sponsoring people just looking at people who are already in US who may be interested. Its a totally different way of working for me but I am learning to adapt to it and enjoying the challenge.
On that note I need to be somewhere!

Hi am new to this site , but what a great resource. I saw your message (below) and couldn’t believe it. I currently work for a company (microlinkpc.co.uk) as a Technical Support Manager, and also as there sales manager when their full time guy is away. The company only deals with Technology for Disabled People, from dyslexia to visual impairment to physical disabilities. I am also fully trained in disability awareness and spend 20% of my time actually on site with Disabled people working with them to improve their quality of life through training in specialised assistive technology.

Both my wife, family and I really want to come to the USA after travelling there for the last 6 years for vacations and business. We have decided as a family we want to move full time to the US, primarily Florida, which is our favourite of the 5 states we have visited. Are there still positions available? Will your company be willing to sponsor people? Is there any tips and help you can offer me?

This threads a year old, so your probably better off starting a thread of your own, in the immigration side. Presuming your a UK citizen and don't have any US conncetion, it'll be tough....easiest way would be L1 company transfer if they have a US operation, that'll allow spouse to work, but not kids.
H1B is the work based sponsor, your potential employer wouldn't be able to apply for a visa till next April, for that following Oct start, also need a degree is a requirement for the type of job. Spouse can not work on that follow on H4 visa.

Florida is a hole, and expensive too...plenty of threads to read.

And welcome to BE :)
