OK, so I have some globe artichokes roasting in the oven, but I want to serve them as part of a vegetarian meal, not as a starter or side dish. Any suggestions as to what I can serve with them?

Not particularly helpful to you, but in our house we'd need to serve them with an Epi pen as the hubster is deathly allergic.

However, i might make a quick ratatouille, and maybe sling that in the oven with some cheese (and/or breadcrumbs) over the top and some crusty bread.

Sounds good, will try that next time, we have loads of artichokes in the garden, so any suggestions welcome. Can't be bothered with the "break of a leaf and dip in butter" though.

Dismantle them one petal at a time, dip in butter and scrape the flesh off with your teeth by inserting the fleshy end into your mouth then pulling it out. The process is about as decorous as eating corn on the cob.

Serve with a shot of Cynar on the side!

That is a great help, thanks. I have just been faced with the same dilemma.
OH was a professional cook, but Dr AZ has unfdortunately taken those memories away.
