Venice - accommodation

Am planning to visit Venice in May but am fearful of the horror stories of expensive accommodation. Any recommendations please fro reasonably priced hotels in the city.

I went a couple of years ago and stayed out towards the main station for resonable rate, about £70 double room with breakfast, still not too bad for accessing the sites and just off the Grand Canal so you can use the water buses.

I once stayed in Hotel AirOne (as you go towards the main part of town from the bus station/multistories, its on your right a few hundred metres down) for €30 for a twin room.. we got what we paid for (one star hotel..) but overall it really wasnt bad! Has a PC connected to the internet too, which takes coins in its front slot which was very useful! Initially we were scared by the guy in the lil box just before the multi stories trying to book us into a €300 hotel, yeah right! But if you look around a little there are lots of much cheaper hotels down side streets.

:)

Hi, try using either of these two companies:
www.tripadvisor.com - this gives you a good low down on the good, the bad and the ugly hotels out there. It covers worldwide :)
www.laterooms.com - only just discovered these, so can't avise too much.

Happy hunting.
