Van Share Italy to France or Beyond

I have to move about 16 m3 of my belongings from Paris to Palermo in a van during the next few months though the sooner the better

Advice on doing this as cheaply as possible will be gratefully received.

I am planning to rent a van in Palermo and do a return trip to Paris going via Mulhouse to save motorway charges. Cost about €1700 including van hire/GNV ferry charge to Genova and motorway charges-

Is anyone interested in doing the first leg of the journey with a Van that I hire in Palermo or they hire somewhere else in Italy or even south of France and I drive back to where they hired it?

Can you hire a van in France and leave it in Italy?

If someone is interested in doing the job for me I would appreciate a quote. I will personally load and unload the van so any damage will be my fault

Thanks for advice

Not too sure if I'm allowed to post any details here, but we used Duncan a few years back and last I heard he is very busy. I'll pm you the details.

If the items are not big you could just box it up and send it with a courier. You can ship door to door for around one Euro one kilo. A lot easier than all that driving. I managed to box up two mountain bikes when I moved here. Larger items were donated to charity.

Have you looked at Shiply? You tell them what you have, and then people quote to provide the service, it works like a reverse eBay

Thank you Geordie - Duncan is kindly doing the job for a very reasonable price.
I've had some very bad experiences with courriers, in particular Mail Boxes. Probably OK for bikes but for anything fragile DIY is the best method unless you can pay enormous prices for specialist shippers

We sent around a dozen large boxes via UPS when we moved here with things like kitchen supplies, various household bits & pieces, stuff that was useful rather than valuable. In the main, even though the boxes looked really battered when they arrived the contents were generally fine and the only breakages were largely the result of our mistakes when packing. Think the boxes cost about £250 in total off the top of my head, half of which was the cost of insuring the shipment. I gave the lady at the Post Office quite a surprise when I dropped them off for the collection!
