I'm director of my company so I can pay myself salary and/or dividends

From what Ive heard if you are the sole employee then its complicated, because the tax man sees it as a ruse. However the things you need to be aware of are: 1 . are you working in Italy - if so you earn in Italy and would have to offset the British salary under the double tax agreement and pay the difference, if any, in Italy. If its dividends then it's unearned income and you would pay only in the UK, but would anyway pay IVIE in Italy on your patrimony abroad. This is a very simplistic version of a very complicated set up so you really need to see a cross border commercialista who can advise yuou one your specific circumstances.
