Just out of curiosity does anyone know how you go about getting a certificazione penale from the UK? Costs?

(Not that I'm thinking about getting Ital. citizenship or anything... )

i went to the local police station near my parents and they provided it by mail for i think a tenner. then you need to send it the legalisation office in milton keynes with more money for the bells and bows version

You can search for "disclosure scotland" (who will do basic disclosure across the whole UK) for around 20-30 GBP, this is legalised for foreign jurisdictions.

Disclosure Scotland is only for resident of Scotland. England and Wales and NI have their one .

not sure that is correct, when my son - who lives in Northumberland - had to do a security check he did it through disclosure Scotland.

Disclosure certificates are for employment purposes. For immigration purposes you'll need an ACRO Police Certificate.

If you want a job involving children/military etc then you need an enhanced one and it will take 6 months... (up to)...

DBS, Disclosure Scotland, AccessNI, these are all certificates suitable for employment purposes.

The Ministry of Defence operates their own security screening service.

An ACRO Police Certificate is available to any UK resident and is specifically designed for immigration purposes. If a foreign government wants a UK police certificate then this is the one you will need to provide.

Just get a DBS, that thing that used to be called a Criminal Background Check.

You only have to prove that Italy isn't harbouring a criminal.

Well, we all know that Italy is harbouring thousands of Italian criminals but the DBS should be enough to prove that you have no UK criminal record.

Then you'll need a police certificate from whichever country/countries you've been living in.
