I have nothing at all against Hungarians. Or people from Brum. My point (clear I thought) was that Francesco (though clearly an intelligent guy) for reasons best known to himself shouts from the stage like some sort of Italian comic strip cliche. For a while I thought, charitably, that maybe the BBC had scripted the thing but I checked and the unholy mess is apparently written by him.

I mentioned that I had shown the scene to an Italian and he thought it ludicrous.

My Italian partner also finds his over acting of his chosen persona ludicrous.

I have never met anyone like Francesco in Italy (and very definitely not in Sardinia) so I fail to see how he would have any influence on me moving to Italy.

But then as I said, he's probably from Birmingham. But since a reversal of his weird mental surgery is probably not possible without unfortunate consequences, I'd put him back under the electrodes this Halloween and turn the dial to some other nationality. Hungarian, Turkish, Belgian whatever, none of whom I have anything against.

If I have a mo I may be able to find that clip of him in full flow - I seem to remember that it lurks on the internet somewhere.
