Trentino Bear...
I just found this in the Telegraph. Makes a pleasant change from all the doom and gloom scaremongering..

It looks like the OH after a rough night! Oddly the local forum had this link on the Abruzzo bear today, more good news.

I can't see the full article (not giving that rag my money!) - does it mention the enclosure that M49 escaped from? It's quite a complex.
It raided a beehive last week, apparently, so apparently Yogi Bear was right, bears do love honey!

For anyone interested, the bear has spent the lockdown period slowly making its way across to Trentino to the area it used to call home where last night it was recaptured and is now back in the Casteller enclosure! I wonder if this will become a never-ending story?

Yes, he's had quite an energetic spring! Would have been a sight to see him crossing the Adige & the A22. Apparently, they have been able to reconstruct his journey largely by the trail of damage to malghe and other farm buildings which he raided for food during his trip. It is remarkable that he appears to have had a "homing" instinct, I didn't realise that bears had that.
