Tech help: UK TV / casting

Hi - I'm now getting all UK TV channels on my PC now via Nord VPN on Googl Chrome browser no problems. I've also tried casting to my telly using Chromecast although, bizarrely, can only get Channel 5 to 'cast'. BBC iplayer shows 'ready to cast' but doesn't... ITV and Channel 4 alos not coming ps (C4 just shows animated '4' symbol). Any help?
I imagine that the VPN is somehow interfering with the 'casting' but why not Channel 5?

NB using Windows laptop, Nord VPN and Google Chromecast, all using home wi-fi sytem

Thanks.

PS Chromecasts works Ok with normal Chrome tabs.

They do casting different, in effect one lot send the url (link) to your tv , but c5 don't they play the strem on the pc and cast that. with the others the individuals like the BBC go to play , see the tv ip and won't play...

Solutions. Not used chromecast in an age, but have you tried starting the stream and then casting the tab only. Others are VPN that runs on a cheap router used as your wifi. Simplest and best if possible is just plug the pc in over hdmi.

OK Thnaks.

Not sure what you mean by "VPN that runs on a cheap router used as your wifi", but yes I've always used a HDMI cable up to now, but was just curious to use chromecast (which is a few years old so perhaps needs updating?)

You can load VPN (not all, but I think Nord is one of the better ones) on to a router and get it to act as a vpn client to cover all your devices, including the tv. But to be honest I'm not too sure it is worth the hassle as an HDMI connection is always going to be better/more reliable than casting.

Yes, but if all the truth be known I couldn't access the HDMI connection on the telly cos of the bloomin' Xmas decorations!

You could also use "Airplay" to cast from an Apple device, (Such as an iPad) which is very reliable. You can run Nord on there no problem.

Alternatively an Android based box such as "Formuler" (yes the spelling is correct) which can run your VPN and pick up TV programmes worldwide.

Windows has never been a good platform for this stuff.

Nord VPN doesn't support Chromecast. I got this information from their tech support team. I use hdmi instead when in Italy.
