Tax year question
hello.
I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question, we recently moved to italy.
I dont mind paying taxes where they are due but things are quite confusing, we moved here in august, do I now have to pay tax for the income earned from january, even if that income was not in italy since we only moved here in august I would think i only need to pay from what happened in august onwards.
Is this incorrect?
thank you

Re: Tax year question
I'm sure I've seen an answer from Modi to this one before and it's something like 18(?) months later tax is due... If you are from a contry with a tax agreement with Italy, best place to check for sure is the agreement itself e.g. search DTA UK Italy will find theirs...

Re: Tax year question
If you moved here in August then you wont have been in ITaly for the necessary 183 days to qualify for tax resident status for the year 2018 - depending if you already have residency.
From Jan 2019 you will be tax resident, so will pay your first tax bill in 2020.

Re: Tax year question
Just to complicate matters, if you have residency in Italy for more than 3 months by year end, you should technically fill in the tax return for this year next June.
