Tax Form

I am currently working for a language school in Verona and received a Certificazione Del Redditi Erogati Delle Ritenute Operate in the post today for 2012.

Do you all employees in Italy need to declare their earnings even if their taxes are paid by their employer?

I have been told I will need to go to a CAF at some point to declare my earnings and that the school will tell me when I need to go and what forms I need to take etc. I was wondering if this is fairly straight forward? Is this something that all employees in Italy are required to do?

Thanks for your time!!

Hello,

Were you fully employed with a contract by the school in 2012 with a regular monthly wage packet and wage slip? Or did you just work for them now and again?

Hi Lorna!

I started employment at the school in October 2012, and I have a contract until August 2012.

I receive a monthy wage and wage slip.

I haven't received anything from the school, the document was sent to me in the post by ENAC ENTE NAZIONALE CANOSSIANO.

What I received is something to do with this:http://www.apiverona.it/section_contents/view/869/3

Edit: All I have received from the school are montly wage slips!

Sorry, my mistake.

It looks like it's the education variation of the CUD in my photo.

Anyway, things work like this as far as I remember and if I'm wrong - somebody will correct me.

You get a monthly wage slip. Your tax and INPS will already be deducted from this.

If you do not have any other earnings ... property rent, land rent, private pension, bonds, shares etc. etc. you don't have to do anything as tax has already been taken from your only earnings ie. the school job.

Even though it's called a "dichiarazione dei redditi" it can also be used to claim taxes back. Medical bills, childrens' sports clubs, mortgage whatever.

If you have nothing to declare - and nothing to claim back then I think you can just sit tight and do nothing.

Hopefully somebody else will know more about this.

Cheers Lorna!!

The amount on the form I received is not for my total earnings though...it is for a company course I did through the school. Therefore the company paid the money directly into my bank account and I recevied less salary than normal from the school for 2 months. However, on the form it has: Totale lordo al netto IVA and Ritenuta operata (which I believe is tax which has been deducted). Does this make any difference?

If we're talking about ritenuta .........

This is something that I have used in the past and they're only for one off, occasional jobs and they work like this .........

Company X asks me to translate their webpage.

I give them an invoice that's with ritenuta d'acconto as I don't have a Partitta IVA. They pay the tax on it not me. They have to send me a letter to prove that they have paid the tax on it in my name. If I stay under the 5.000 euro yearly limit I don't have to declare any of these one off jobs and these earnings.

It sounds like the school did something like this in your name for that company course though I don't know why the school didn't just invoice the company themselves and keep you on normal wage.

I am not too sure either! The money was paid to by the state, I think it is part of a government funding to skills in the workplace.

Do I need to do anything for the last tax year? Or can I just leave it?

Thanks for the help!
