That aspect is just part of life. Think in UK State Pension terms. You've (presumably) paid your 30 years of contributions to qualify for your basic pension. But if you continue to earn money there you have to pay NI on it, part of which goes towards basic pension funding, i.e. you get nothing out of it. Any additional pension (Graduated Pension, Serps, SSP or whatever they call it now, is a slightly different story)

Taxation (and NI, INPS etc are all forms of taxation, even if they're not called that) is not as a rule ringfenced, so people without children pay for education, people without cars pay towards the road system, ad infinitum.

Ciao Carol, and Happy New Year.
If I were in your position, I would keep the can of worms you're sitting on firmly closed. Just care for the dogs that you take in; as a favour to people you know via web or social networks; and then accept VOLUNTARY contributions from them for the food etc. as you have said. If you have fully paid up UK contributions, nothing to be gained by paying INPS or earning an official 5/6 K eurines per year for the taxman.
cheers,
'o nonno

Happy New Year to you ononno and thanks for taking the time to reply.
In relation to your reply, would you do any kind of receipt or invoice then or not bother at all. ? I do give a basic receipt at the moment

The work is seasonal really, just gets us by.

Never ever leave a paper trail if it can be avoided.

But it needs to be occasional - 3 or 4 a year at most. If you bought a car, and have a Carta didentia then you have residency, and must fill in tax returns by law, even if you have no income. From 1 Jan 2014, any money held overseas must be declared on the RW section of your form - its going to get very silly.....
Is it not that you have to declare any earnings as well IE pensions from other States ?

technically paypal accounts should have been declared last year as well - the italian govt has decided that you should pay tax on them. The difference this year is that the previous lower limit of 10.000 has been abolished. So yes, your 3 British Gas shares, 25 quid premium bonds are now fair game. I think Maunday money may be exempt!
